Ragusa is an enchanting hill town in rural Sicily.
Ragusa is an enchanting hill town in rural Sicily. It is surrounded by steep gorges, with the town spreading up three steep linked hills. It's a fantastic place to spend a few hours exploring the narrow steep streets. We found some wonderful shops - intended for tourists, but good value. There were also fantastic eateries and the local people we interacted with all seemed charming and helpful. We ate dinner in La Bettola in Ragusa Ibla, which was delicious and great value.

Ragusa has two parts to it, the old and new.
Ragusa has two parts to it, the old and new. The old city is very beautiful and interesting to explore. The main street is fun with restaurants, shops and a park at the end with wonderful views of the valley and mountains beyond. We did not go up the hill to the new city however so we cannot characterize it.

I loved Ragusa, the roads are difficult with a larger vehicle but this shouldn’t put you off just research your routes and think about where accessible parking can be found. The new town is interesting but not touristy whilst the old town is a lovely labyrinth of medieval street and lanes with beautiful Baroque architecture. There are restaurants worth searching for and we particularly enjoyed the ‘5 senses’!

Ragusa Ibla is great for wandering around streets, piazzas,...
Ragusa Ibla is great for wandering around streets, piazzas, visiting the Duomo and churches, and admiring the architecture. There are plenty of places to eat but we found it best to have our main meal at lunch times as many places were fully booked in the evenings. We loved our 3 venue tour - Palazzo Arezzo, the Circolo di Conversazione, and especially Cinabro Carrettieri -artisans still making colourful traditional Sicilian carts.
We took the bus to Modica for a day trip, and another to Scicli, both lovely places. The bus times are not always accurate and bus stops often not easy to locate, but the tourist information office in the centre is helpful and open late.

We loved Ragusa Ibla with all the beautiful crumbling buildings and churches. What an amazing place and Baroque treasure! One of the big surprises to us was that we were able to visit Palazzo Arezzo di Donnafugata and admire all the antique pomp and delicate taste of beauty in the 'Le Tavole dei Gattopardi' exhibition.
Exquisite taste, attention to detail, beauty everywhere you look, elegance in abundance, comfort beyond compare, efficient friendly supportive staff, secure parking right there (a bit tricky pulling into the narrow driveway- pull in your side mirrors). Breakfast in abundance as well with pretty much anything you care to order including eggs Benedict. This is indeed a true “vero e proprio” 5 star luxury hotel. And a healthy walk to the old Ibla lower part of town. I must confess, we took a cab back up. no problem.
Great location in Ragusa Superiore right near the central square. It is near many restaurants, a grocery store and shops. The hotel is on the corner of Corso Italia, the street that leads to Ragusa Ibla. The classic view of Ibla is very near. Buses to the central bus station are on Corso Italia just around the corner from the hotel. The staff was very helpful and on one occasion drove us to the bus station when the local bus wasn't running- travel on a Sunday isn't easy!
Our stay B&B Terre Del Sole Ibla was a highlight of our travels in Sicily. We had originally booked 2 nights but decided to extend our stay another night.
Our large room was spotless and the view magnificent. A very comfortable bed and large bathroom with an excellent shower.
Breakfast was delicious and featured different Sicilian specialities each morning.
Nanni was the perfect host throughout our stay. I would not hesitate to recommend B&B Terre Del Sole Ibla.
Nice location with a great view from the rooms towards the old town of Ragusa-Ibla;
Spacious rooms with tall ceilings, walls decorated with typical Sicilian limestone;
Large bed with comfortable mattress, pillows and bed linen;
Large free public parking next to the hotel;
Exceptional breakfast - great variety, high quality products, very tasty home made Italian pastries;
Kind and attentive service;
Reasonable pricing of the mini bar beverages;
We stayed there only for one night, but can recommend this place. We made a late check in and we had zero issues with contacting the host Silvana via WhatsApp. It must be said that the hosts were extremely kind and gave us a lot of recommendations in regard to Ragusa and other stops in Sicily. The room itself was comfortable and clean, with a fridge. For breakfast there was a nice croissant with jam and another dolce, some fruit and yoghurt.
Best location in town to visit old Ragusa section. Walking distance to great restaurants and to all tourist locations. The hotel was extremely clean and the employees very friendly. Breakfast was the best during out visit to Sicily. The rooms clean, WIFI perfect for my 2 hours work per day. Amazingly roomy shower . We definitely will stay here all the time I visit Ragusa.
Giardino Sul Duomo was perfectly located in Ragusa Ibla, overlooking the duomo, and just a short walk from a range of excellent cafes and restaurants. It has the added bonus of the beautiful beach at Ragusa Marina being only a 25 minute drive away. Michele was the perfect host at what is the perfect boutique hotel in the perfect location.
The room was spacious and comfortable. Includes a fantastic view of Upper Ragusa. The host was friendly and accommodating, greeting me upon my arrival and showing us the simple but nice breakfast stored in the kitchen (yogurt, coffee, bananas and apples). The B&B is tucked away in Ragusa Ibla, in a quiet spot.
The hotel is located very close to Ragusa Ibla and close to a lot of restaurants. Although you have to park your car on the street, you get a pass to park somewhere for free. The staff is kind and helpful. The swimming pool is great to take a dip after a hot morning walk in the old city centre.
Everything!
It’s an apartment with all its amenities, but feels like a hotel. The building is beautifully renovated - all modern, great beds and super location.
The view from the terrace (we stayed in the 2 bed apartment) might be the best of the Ragusa Ibla (see photos)
The hotel's location is incredible, the view during breakfast is worth the stay alone. Our stay was super chilled, easy, and comfortable. Vincenzo, the owner, is super friendly and can advise on so many things about Ragusa and Sicily in general. You'll be in good hands!
The hotel is nice, very modern looking, friendly staff and good breakfast. The location is tricky - it is in Ragusa Nuova which is about 2km from Ragusa Ibla - the historic center. We had to drive and then walk another 10 minutes to get to the main road of Ibla.
Amazing property and room. Everything was at its best.
We're having a road trip in Sicily, changing hotels almost daily and this hotel's king suite was the best room we had on the whole trip.
Breakfast was perfect too, only high quality food.
Marco was a gracious host! Breakfast on the rooftop terrace overlooking Ragusa Ibla was so special. The room was incredibly comfortable, clean, and a short walk to the shops and restaurants. Fantastic stay!
Such a beautiful house, beautifully done, nicely kept, furniture is elegant. The best breakfast we had in Sicily. The owner was very helpful. Private parking, very central. The hotel had a spa.
Great location within walking distance of the train station and Cathedral of Ragusa (not to be confused with Ragusa Ibla). Large room, quite adequate for three adults. Copious breakfast.
Nice accommodation in the middle between Ragusa Superiore and Ragusa Ibla. On the way to Ragusa Ibla, we have the best view of the town. The room was basic, spacious, and very clean.
Gorgeous location in Ragusa Ibla. Beautifully decorated. Peppe is a kind and helpful host. Delicious homemade breakfast with one of the best views in Sicily. Easy street parking.
