The Opitz family made our stay with them an amazing experience I will never forget. Angela and her mother took care of all the hotel and breakfast issues with super professionalism and a generosity that always went above and beyond what I expected. Angela also had great recommendations for what to do around the area. The wine tasting we asked for with Willie was something unbelievable, though. He's an incredible figure in Austria's wine industry and he spent 4 hours with my wife and I showing us all of his wine production facilities and leading us through an extensive wine tasting with some food pairings thrown in for good measure. (Those came from Angela's catering business that she runs with her husband Ian. They offer full dinner experiences which I will definitely book some time in the future.) My wife and I have tasted wine all over the world and Willie's stands up to or exceeds therm all. You must try this if you have the chance. Wow!

An award-winning wine-growing estate with homemade wines decorated in a classic English country style, Wein & Landhaus Willi Opitz is located right on the bicycle trail in the Neusiedler See-Seewinkel National Park. Free private parking is available on site, and bicycles can be rented a 5-minute walk away. Wine tasting events and a tour of the vineyards can be booked, accompanied by regional products provided by the family-owned catering business. They include an iced soup of honey melon with a Beerenauslese sweet wine, or a Granny Smith apple dessert with a classic Welschriesling, a dry white wine. Guests can also enjoy a rich buffet breakfast including egg dishes, home made sweet dishes or daily fresh bread from local bakery Decorated in a Laura Ashley style, the modern rooms at Landhaus Willi Opitz feature a flat-screen cable TV, a bathroom, a work desk, and extra long beds with a length of 7.2 feet. Other facilities include e-bike charging station and bicycle washing area. Neusiedler See Card is included in the room rate from March till October. The center of Illmitz is a 10-minute walk away from Landhaus Willi Opitz, and riding stables can be reached in a 5-minute walk. Vienna Airport and Bratislava Airport are both a 45-minute drive away. The Mörbisch Lake Festival is a 20-minute ferry ride away. The ferry also picks up visitors after the show.
