This town is only 10 min drive to Vila do Gerês which in peak season you will find very crowded. This is a traditional Portuguese town, with a majestic church! Has 1 butcher, 2 coffees, mini market and a restaurant with very good traditional portuguese food. Very chilled town, easy to move around, though you will need a car
The hotel is in a great location, a short drive from both Gerês and the neighbouring town of Amares.
The staff was very welcoming and helpfull throughout our whole stay, we were even surprised with a gift for my partners' birthday, which made everything feel even more special.
The athmosphere was great, always calm and relaxing and the facilities were great as well, specially the pool, in which we spent a good amount of time in the sun.
The overall experience was great and we probably will return.
I absolutely love the Pousada de Amares, this was the second time we stayed here. We fell in love with the beautiful architecture, design and history of the hotel. The food is amazing. The aesthetics are beautiful. There is a lot of space to walk around and explore...especially when the orange trees in full season.
We didn't know, but the area is super accessible by taxi / Uber. We went into Braga, the bigger town for dinner, and the hotel staff were very helpful in getting us there too!
The hotel has a wonderful ambience. It was incredibly peaceful, the views of the garden and hills beyond were very special. The renovation has been completed with real simplicity and style and the building has retained its authenticity. The staff were professional, warm and very helpful. Our dog was also welcomed by everyone he met!
The hotel is located in an old, beautifully renovated convent. The bed sheets were crisp and perfectly clean. The restaurant was impressive, with a good menu. A fantastic terrace where you can take your meal. Breakfast was as you would expect at this price level. Staff was very friendly. A perfect place for people seeking rest.
everything. The architecture and how this old monastery was restored and transformed into a hotel is superb. extreme purity of the lines. Corteen steel, wood and stone. The surroundings and the views are part of the experience. The personal is friendly. Will go back and stay more days!!!
Beautiful property and grounds. Much of the original features seemed to be left intact and the hotel sits nicely in the property. Spacious rooms and calm gardens and pool. Really peaceful.
Very nice and peaceful hotel. Ancient monestery has been transformed in hotel providing the necessary modern confort and respecting the old architecture
