Jay Paradise - Paraíso Jota is located in Santa Cruz, just 12 miles from Marina do Funchal and 14 miles from Santana's Traditional Houses. I liked everything! The location could have not been better - wonderful view, polite and welcoming staff and neighbours. One of the main reasons why I decided to book my stay at this property was because of the view and being so close to the airport. Nonetheless, I must say that the staff were 10/10 and they have, most definitely improved my stay by 100%. Well done to them!!

Located on the island of Madeira, the Dom Pedro Madeira is located on the beach of Machico Bay. The property was amazing, service was excellent and the breakfast was so diverse.
Hotel in Machico ( 1.1 miles)
Just 55 yards from the sandy beach of Machico on the east coast of Madeira, Amparo offers comfortable accommodations and a relaxing atmosphere. It provides a 24-hour front desk and free Wi-Fi. The location was perfect - in the centre and provided great free breakfast.
Machico is a quiet little place with good restaurants and a relaxed vibe. Supermarkets and all the normal sevices. Good if you prefer to be out of the hustle bustle of Funchal but only 15 minutes drive away. The East of Madeira has good gentle levada hikes and a super beachside restaurant in Porto da Cruz.
The village is set in the mountains with plenty of local activity, the Sunday market for local farm produce and the restaurants cater for all tastes from basic food to sophisticated "new cuisine". we most liked the "A Quinta" restaurant which has it's own recipes menu rather than an international menu. The best were the Lamb stew and the Cod with cream. Everything is in walking distance (no more than 15mins) there is a public garden which attracts a lot of visitors and the "Bola de Caco" (flat bread) made and sold on the street by a local character that boasts about having participated in a TV soap and other events that he is more than happy to explain as he makes the bread. The 27 hole Golf course is right next door if you like it and there is also a horse riding centre in the village. The people are friendly and very helpful to the visitors.
I would say, Santa Cruz is not worth visiting unless you have an early flight... There is nothing special to see. The Palm beach does not seem very nice and clean (there are big black stones on the beach - they are not comfortable to lay and to go to swim). The marina is quite short and it finishes by the swimming pool and the akvapark, but they were closed in March. I had a dinner at the restaurant Biletheira and the tuna steak was really good (12 Eur)! Santa Cruz is very near Funchal, so you can go to Funchal by bus and you can spend your time in the capital city.
If you are without a car and want to visit most of the tourist places on Madeira Island you should rather look for a apartment in the Funchal city. That's a town where most of the buses go and you are going to have more time for your trips. The Machico city is also great and beautiful but rather quiet and somewhat local.
Santo da Serra provides very comfortable self catering accommodation in a very convenient location for walking. Staff very helpful, bed comfortable, shower amazing and lovely sitting out area. Excellent.
The house located between Garajau and Canico. Cristo Rei in Garajau is a must to visit. Here hop on the cable car and take a look to Garajau beach. The beach is stony, there're much more nicer beaches to visit. Worth to eat at Talho do Canico, a tarditional grill bar in the centre of Canico. Taste tangerine poncha in La Carbonara in Garajau, the closest bar to the house. If you visit Madeira in April don't miss out the flower carneval in Funchal! Visit Sanatana to see the old traditional triangle shaped houses and visit Faial and Porto Moniz for the spectacular beach views.
