Athabasca River Mile 5 Rafting Experience

A thrilling rafting expedition through the rapids of the river's turbulent Mile 5 section

Duration: 2 hours

During this two-hour rafting adventure, you'll tackle the white water of Athabasca River's legendary Mile 5 strip, featuring several sections of grade 2 rapids. You'll begin with an introduction before hitting the water. You'll spend around ten minutes gently gliding along the current until the rapids begin.

Your total route will cover a distance of around 8.1 mi. When you're not navigating areas of churning water, you can take in the beautiful mountain scenery or brave the icy waters for a refreshing swim. You'll also pass the spot where the Athabasca and Miette Rivers converge and you can see the difference in color between a river fed by rain water and one fed by glaciers.
