The pictures are deceptive. The rooms are really small but if you’re gonna be out and about all day, you’re just basically staying in a room to sleep. Very thin wall so you could hear the people next-door. It reminded me more of like a hostel or a dormitory. Good value for the money. If you’re not in your room, we did a lot of excursions and trips. Great location in the welcome center downtown.

Staff was absolutely attentive and always willing to help. Rooms were clean and the location was nice and quiet, while still walking distance to cool sights, town (during the day), etc. Pool and restaurant area were welcoming and fun. The amenities/dispensers (handsoap, bodywash, shampoo, conditioners) were also nice. Hot water is adjustable and ample, and even with an on/off switch. :) Good ventilation and A/C options.

The staff were incredibly friendly and always smiling. Also the location high on a hill allowed for excellent views. The food was delicious and the cocktails were excellent.

Good place to base with lots of activities close by.
Good place to base with lots of activities close by. We didn't spend much time in the town itself as we stayed slightly out of town center so cannot comment on restaurants and such. Good street food. Good grocery shopping to stock up.

We spent 2 full days there.
We spent 2 full days there. The first day we went to the local Mayan ruins of Cahal Peche and Xanantunich and the second we went cave tubing with Bellizean Caving Expeditions. Both were amazing experiences. If we had an extra day we would have loved to see the Mayan city of Carocal which is further away from town.

If you're looking for quiet and remote, then this is your place. There isn't much to do here. Thank God for the Casinos. They gave me something other than staring at the hotel walls to do.
Visiting the Mayan ruins of Xunantunich, was great. But you definitely want to take the taxi from the ferry to the top of the hill, if you're not in good shape.
Just a little way up the road is a restaurant named Sweet & Sour. The food was very good. I just wasn't feeling the cow foot soup. Lol.
Although lots of advertisement says public transportation is available. However, unless you want to spend a small fortune, you absolutely need a car and a working cell phone for the GPS.
The people in Belize were very helpful and friendly. It was great that most of them spoke English. This was a huge plus.
The poverty here was heart breaking. I'm glad that I had an opportunity to visit. But I doubt that I will be going back any time soon.

The only thing that was horrific about this place was the hair braiding woman whose small shop is directly left from The Spot restaurant which is on the opposite side of the Venus hotel. The woman is violent. She gave us a big spill about how awful my daughters hair extensions were and that she would take it out and do it again. She said she would do it for 50USD. We accepted as she seemed like a nice lady but how wrong we were. She took the extensions out but then said she couldn’t remove the beads in my daughters hair and would need to leave them in. My daughter was horrified so I then had to bite every single one of them out myself. She then cut a three inch chunk of my daughters hair which is right on the crown. We told her we didn’t want her doing it and she bullied us to carry on. She then side platted my daughters natural hair and made a huge plaitted bump and then sowed the hair into the plait leaving a huge surplus of the hair extensions hanging. My daughter was so distraught and started crying and begged her to stop. She then took a 12 inch kitchen knife from her handbag and pepper spray on her key ring and said we must giver her the money. It was such a scary experience. Please please avoid this woman at all costs. We then complained to authorities whom explained she was mentally unstable. They wanted us to file a police report to have her arrested but we just wanted to leave the area.

The market is a must see for especially the food that is available throughout the day.
Just like any other place, be careful at night time when walking downtown. We did feel very safe.
Have bug repellents ready at night.

Good spot to stay and commute to various tourist places in Western Belize-ruins, market, Guatemala border. Some of our destinations were far enough from San Ignacio that if I did the trip again, would have stayed closer to them versus commuting from San Ignacio
Location of this hotel is awesome if you want to be in easy walking distance of all things in San Ignacio which has a fairly concentrated main street. The staff was also wonderful - shout out to Ismael for all the recommendations and helpfulness! Loved the microwave available for use and even the fridge if you ask. Really liked the balcony looking overlooking the city and jungle - highly recommend checking out sunrise! Also free parking if you have a car which is a bonus.
Considering some of the prices of the competition, this place seems like the best deal for a private room in Cayo (depending on which rates you're able to get). The air conditioner is awesome, there's a solid wifi connection and the room is spacious enough to have a couch, mini-fridge and table. Mike is a friendly guy and the property is only a little ways over the bridge, not too far from the main tourist areas of San Ignacio.
The property was beautiful, so peaceful and lush after staying in the heart of San Ignacio! The meals were to die for and there were sweet kittens and dogs wandering around to love on. We really enjoyed chatting with Dominic - such a great guy - and he even showed us around the farm for a little hike/tour! The room was also clean and comfortable with plenty of space and everything we needed. Overall an excellent stay!
San Ignacio is a interesting and underdeveloped city that attracts mostly backpackers and travelers. Tourists tend to stay at the expensive resorts on the outside of town. Martha’s guesthouse offers clean and necessary amenities with a great downtown location. It won’t be glamorous but it’s close to the Saturday market and downtown tour starting places. Plenty of restaurants in walking distance.
The very best thing about our stay was the restaurant!! The chefs were FANTASTIC! Such amazing gourmet food! We loved it all so much! It was also fun to have so much birds and wildlife around us to watch as we ate. The owner and workers were SO nice provided such great service too! It was located in a good spot, near San Ignacio but remote to feel like a jungle! Cute housing units too.
The hotel is a decent 3-stars option for a short stay in San Ignacio. Though it is rather rudimentary venue, it offers quite sizable, quiet and clean rooms. It is located 20 min walki from the town center, but it is bearable distance for an evening stroll. Importantly, staying there, you still have an access to dining options in the town, despite being located somehow on the outskirts.
We had a wonderful stay at Villa Cayo. Virginia, Ken, and their staff provided a beautiful hilltop retreat. They helped us book our daily excursions and you can order breakfasts to be delivered to your room before your outings. We were in Unit 3 and felt we had the small lawn and valley view to ourselves. We would not hesitate to recommend Villa Cayo to friends visiting San Ignacio.
The property was locally owned and tucked away in a quite neighborhood. We were surrounded by lucuous greenery and lovey wildlife. The room was spacious and clean with an open floor plan. The host was a wealth of local knowledge of Belize and hooked us up with a guy who gave us some of the best tours of ATM & Tikal. Highly recommend staying here if you have a car.
Toy & Bubbles, plus the other staff are sone of the best people!!! They are so helpful & accommodating despite dealing with so many people all day long.
The common areas are great - the terrace was a great spot to read or write, or chill in the hammocks. Plus the dogs & cats were the best ever!
Close to a supermarket & the bus stop.
Lovely owners, amazing price, great free breakfast, comfortable bed, hot shower, wonderful air-conditioning, huge room, a fridge, amazing location, free cold water, very cheap beers available. This place had it all. We then stayed in a $130 per night Hotel which was a gift from my brother and I can honestly say I had a better time here!
Plenty of space in dorm plus lockers, personal fan And outlet, wifi good, enough shared bathrooms, areas to sit outside or inside, lots of tours and night activities like game or trivia, next to a park plus easy walk to ruins and hilltop view and swim pool, supermarket nearby, ac option, best hostel breakfast you can find
Hotel staff were amazing - this was probably my best experience with hostel staff of all the hostels I've stayed at as everyone was very friendly and helpful. Location is pretty convenient and the value for price was pretty spot on.
Loved how peaceful and full of nature the surroundings are ! The staff were amazing and the kitchen had the best breakfast burritos . Great coffee available to make in the rooms and enjoy in the hammock !
The food was excellent. Had some amazing staff. I will say the food was the best I ever had in Belize however the accommodations didn't match the quality.
