We stayed 1 night in an upper level room with a small terrace overlooking the street. The room is large. Bathroom adequate. Shower great. The staff is friendly and helpful. The terrace views are lovely day or night. Easy walking to restaurants. Nice choices at breakfast. Our girlfriend stayed in a cave room which looked cozy and comfortable as well.
Re Matera: if you are not a big walker or don’t do stairs or hills or possibly slippery cobblestones get one or more taxi or tuk tuk phone numbers to take you places.

Great location, window that provided light and fresh air, nice breakfast setup, friendly and helpful staff, everything worked properly. Most comfortable mattress I've slept on in Italy in 5 weeks of traveling (hotels there tend to have hard mattresses).

Matera is unbelievable! The ancient area is unlike any other area I've seen in Italy. As many have said, no wonder there are movies made there; it reminds one of Jerusalem with its caves and stone outcroppings. There are churches and buildings coming right out of the rock! We had wished for another day, so we could have crossed the footbridge and hiked around.

History of the town was fascinating.
History of the town was fascinating. Strongly recommend taking a guided walking tour of the old town for insights. We stayed in the old town in a cave room which added to the experience. A short stay of 2 or 3 nights is perfect.

Matera is like stepping back in time but feeling like you’re a part of it. The streets are so quaint and around every corner is a new gem. Find your way to a lookout as the sun sets and you’ll marvel at the beauty. We did a walking tour which was perfect and super informative. If you can make your way to the lookout in the morning for a view over the town.

Matera is a beautiful town. It’s well worth taking a guided walking tour to fully understand its long and very interesting history. It’s also worth heading off down the narrow streets and alleyways to discover some fantastic views across the town and gorge below.

located in the most beautiful part of Matera, the hotel offers everything that will make your stay an unforgettable holiday. we were impressed by the modern, simple design of the rooms. everything is very clean and well thought out. the breakfast was plentiful, varied and fresh. all the staff are very helpful and also booked us taxis and restaurants. the garden is of course the highlight that sets the hotel apart from all the others. we will be back! next time without a broken arm :)
Of course, Matera is a remarkable place and this small hotel is in the very heart of it, fifty yards walk away from remarkable view across the cave town. The room itself was carved into the rock and the public rooms were very striking - although dark. A big bonus is the chance to have breakfast at a smart hotel across the road with an outdoor space which also overlooked the town. Matera itself is truly remarkable - the archaeological museum is wonderful, too, and almost deserted.
Room was great (although not the cave room which we didn't realise when we booked). Hosts were great. Would have been good to have some more flexibility on check in times but we made it work. The Rooms are great, super nicely designed and clean. Breakfast was the best we've had in Italy! Very nice place. Location for Matera is also great.
A beautiful hotel located in the heart of Matera. Our view was incredible and our room was very comfortable. The receptionist was lovely, greeting us and giving us some restaurant and sight seeing recommendations. Breakfast was also fresh and delicious. I cannot fault this hotel at all and it is a highlight of our Italy trip.
The location was near the old city of Matera. We had a wonderful walk across the caves and the old town.. In my opinion, Matera is the most beautiful city in Italy.
The host, Enzo, was very kind with us. Overall, we had a nice stay.
