Seascale Hotel & Restaurant, hotel in Gorey

Overlooking Gorey Harbour, Seascale Hotel & Restaurant offers well-appointed rooms beneath Jersey’s Mont Orgueil Castle.

We had a sea view double room with cracking views of Gorey Harbour. The room was cleaned everyday and the staff very friendly. Breakfast was plentiful and the evening meal choice was very good value for money.

The staff was lovely and polite. The location was good and the room was nice and tidy. I would specially like to mention a lady named Klara (apologies if I misspelled her name) who works in room service and who was incredibly sweet, helpful and all of us, including our 5 year old daughter, enjoyed meeting her!

Excellent breakfast choice. Prompt service. A little restricted evening menu, however we enjoyed the ones we did have. We had to choose our table carefully in order to avoid incoming cigarette smoke. All waiting staff were very efficient and very friendly.

On the east side of Jersey Gorey is very picturesque with great views of the castle and harbour. There are shops a short walk away in the village and a fish n chip shop. Pizza Quarter in Gorey is a particularly good place to eat. We did walk from St Helier but the buses are regular and convenient and not expensive, especially if you get a day pass. We particularly enjoyed : the Zoo, Elizabeth Castle, Corbiere lighthouse, the War Tunnels and the Jersey Museum was a good place to start. St Brelade's Bay has to be one of the most beautiful beaches in existence. If it rains there is also a cinema in St Helier. We didn't visit Mont Orgueil Castle in Gorey this time but it looks very good for younger children.

Great location. Excellent footpaths for walking.

Great location. Excellent footpaths for walking. Mint Irgueil castle only minutes away by walking. Few hotel bars and restaurants. Frequent, regular and reliable bus service to St.Helier about half an hour in duration. Good idea to buy a bus ticket pass that covers one for duration of stay as you can use any liberty bus(island’s public bus service) to go anywhere in the island from St.Helier.

Restricted parking but a large free car park is available a short walk from the hotel. Lovely walks around the harbour and seafront promenade. A mediaeval castle is on the hillside for exploring. There are many different bus routes to various destinations on the island that operate out of Gorey Pier.

Gorey is a good location for exploring as there is a good bus service- the castle is great and would definitely recommend a visit. Good selection of bars and restaurants and others tucked away such as The Ranch and Crab Shack! It’s a lovely walk around the port and beach.

Gorey is a peaceful haven in Jersey - a good mix of friendly locals and tourists. It has a relaxed ambiance and good sailing vibes. Recommend the excellent food at The Moorings (the chef is second to none!) and the local band at the Dolphin on Fridays and Saturdays is worth the trip!

The staff member Ina was very helpful and friendly. She looked after us very well and spent some time telling us about the life on the Island and giving some tips on activities we could do. The location was perfect. The JAAC premises are green and spacious. A few mins on foot to the sea! To earn the spectacilar view over the Gorey Bay and the castle, and to get back to JAAC we needed to climb up the hill and we enjoyed it every day. The breakfast was fresh and in the form of a buffet, which we enjoyed.

Friendly hotel in an excellent location. The restaurant is nice and the food extremely well prepared with great flavour. We had half board with a set menu having 5 options, though for a longer stay I would probably have dipped into the a la carte. Very good roast on the Sunday. Other restaurants nearby and the beach is lovely. Plenty of parking and a disc was provided at reception but for 24 hour parking you need to find a slot 200m or more along the sea front which wasn't a problem for us in September.

This was my third stay at The Moorings. I love the sense of calm and relaxation that is present from check in onwards. The restaurant food is outstanding, even by Jersey standards which are generally high. Staff are all so friendly and helpful and I would recommend this hotel for its wonderful setting on Gorey pier as well as the reasons mentioned above. I look forward to returning soon.

The Old Bank House Hotel didn't really function as a hotel, it functioned like a hostel where the staff in the restaurant below gave you your room key etc when there was anything wrong and the restaurant was not open there was no one there to ask questions or help the guests, it is not a hotel
