Bay Villa, hotel in Grange Over Sands

Just metres from the sea and offering easy access to the beautiful sights of the Lake District, Bay Villa offers sophistically included bed and breakfast accommodation.

Bay Villa is an absolute gem that we loved so much. It was so bespoke and special for us. We stayed 5 nights in the Old Library Room and it was so magical. The room was beautiful with so many lovely victorian touches starting from the four poster bed, lovely furniture and the fire place. The bathroom had a cute vintage looking radio. Breakfast was freshly cooked daily and Margaret was such a great host. Very generous portions and her porridge came with a dose of whisky! The breakfast table overlooked the Moracombe bay and there were trains passing by almost every 20 mins. What an ansolute delight it was. The best B&B we have stayed at in the UK. Special thanks to Margaret for looking after me and my hubby so well.

Grange Manor, hotel in Grange Over Sands

When you want to get away from it all, you really can at Grange Manor.

Breakfast - served in your room at the requested time, a 2 course affair with a request sheet on arrival. A wonderful experience, befitting that we had Poirot in the background. The room was exemplary. Wonderful furnishings, lots of benefits and a beautiful bathroom with under floor heating and a roll top bath.

What a terrific location., Clean, homely and attractive, even a walk on the promenade (sunday pm) was met with a Saxophone player, and couples gently wandering along the board walk towards the blues. The Civic Society have dine a wonderful job preserving and maintaining Grange, quite beautiful!

A peaceful setting some quaint shops, great views, choice of food types, no bathing beach, lots of sand flats but good promenade to walk on, some areas can be hilly, within fair reach of Lakes, Kendal and not over far from Morcambe, not much entertainment for youngsters in the town though.

    Very quiet.

Very quiet. Unfortunately most of the cafes and shops closed at 4pm. Not many shops there is a Tesco, Co-op and Spar and some other little shops. We had a lovely homemade meal at a little cafe on the corner (sorry can't remember the name, too busy enjoying the food) across the road from the Spar shop. Not really much to do apart from walking along the promenade. You can go on a coastal trip on the train from the Station. I don't think we'll be revisiting however the hotel (and the little cafe) was brilliant.

Grange over Sands is well located for the South Lakes.

Grange over Sands is well located for the South Lakes. We had never been before, and we made the most of our time there. We would recommend the Punchbowl Inn at Crosthwaite (the cheese soufflé is to die for) We went segueing at Cartmell. Great fun and lovely people. Cartmell itself is lovely - with three restaurants owned by the Michelin starred chef Simon Rogan. We didn't eat in any of them, but I believe they are amazing. The Manor Arms in Strawberry Down is a good, honest pub with unfussy, well-cooked food. We came across Humphrey Head by chance. Extraordinary rock formation and a very different view. We need more time, as there is so much more to explore!

Its a very small place but very busy with a lot of community groups including a well run marshalled cross-bay walk from Arnside to Grange-o-Sands. Its about 9 miles in all, good fun. Great walks nearby and good train service.

Beautiful building but badly let down by the food very limited menu and the breakfast was cold and mostly dried out sausage was like rubber and the black pudding was so overcooked I struggled to get the fork through also they must have the smallest tables ever the hotel is really letting itself down with the food otherwise the staff are welcoming and friendly the setting is beautiful overlooking the bay we would probably go back when the food gets sorted
