A quaint little town with lovely shops, a beautiful castle, which we visited. Great little shops as well as Greggs, Co-op, Lidl, Sainsbury, cafes, pharmacies, a lovely hotel plus more!
We ate at Tweed Cafe (Turkish kebab). The food was amazing! They do burgers, pizzas, pasta dishes, all types of kebabs too!
Lots of places to explore in & around Kelso.

Kelso is an old Scottish market town in a very beautiful rural area. The river Tweed flows through it and is famous for fishing. Though the town is amazing itself with crooks and crannies (lots of adjoining passageways), interesting shops and some really good eating places , the Abbey ruins and ancient graveyard in a shady, green setting, the surrounding countryside is also so pretty and full of history. So much to see on your doorstep and within easy driving distance. Great area for walking and cycling too.

Kelso is great for long walks by the river and wandering around the shops. There are some very good places to eat. We recommend the Cobbles and the Contented Vine. The pubs are also worth visiting, especially Rutherfords just next door to the apartments.
It's a friendly town. We always find ourselves chatting with the locals.
Parking in the square is restricted to 2 hours max. For long stay use the Knowes car park on Mayfield Lane, it's free and always has spaces.

Kelso is a interesting market town and a good place to use as a base for seeing much of the border region, particularly the eastern region. Many of the eating places we visited were "ordinary" and not great value for money, but that seems to be the norm in the region.

The hosts were really helpful.
The hosts were really helpful. We wanted an impromptu barbecue and they kindly facilitated this. The laundry area/ boot room was very spacious with plenty of room for wellies and wet weather gear, as well as drying and washing facilities.

Kelso is compact and all on the flat. We used it as a base to visit other places in the Borders.

First of all I stayed here 12 months ago and the warm feeling I got then wasn't the same this time around. the food I'd outstanding the room well it was a Attic room so a cheapy.
The staff were marvellous as usual but there was this guy I presume a manager seem to poke his nose into almost everything. The lovely feel has gone from here and I won't book again.
Which is a shame its a beautiful hotel and kelso is a lovely small town full of lovely people I stay at cross keys instead
The hotel is simply beautiful and you feel instantly relaxed on entry. The staff was so helpful and friendly and the spa is obviously first rate. The perfect place to unwind. We're not golfers but from what we heard the course is great too.
Its central location right at the heart of Kelso, and convenient access, parking outside the door, attractive decor and very pleasant bedroom overlooking The Square.
