Concierge Mark and bar staff Sid and George were great. The pub was lovely. Food and drink that we had in the pub was delicious. Our room was spacious. The hot tub was great, but a little too hot!

The staff was excellent—we espeicially loved Mel, part of the staff at the Winander breakfast.
This peaceful, family-run Lake District hotel is a 5-minute stroll from Lake Windermere. The Burn How’s rooms are all located in the private grounds, away from the main building.

The breakfast was fabulous, great fruit, wide selection. The location was a bit hard to find but centrally located. Beautiful setting. Felt like a real escape

We were there for a wedding at the local church but highly satisfied with our choice. The owners are a fantastic couple who made us feel very welcome and told us lots of the local history.
If makes such a difference when you are made to feel welcome the minute you step through the door.

We loved the views.
We loved the views. We ate both there and at another secluded pub just down the road. Troutbeck is easy enough to get around but you will need a car to get into Ambleside. If we were in the area again we would stay in The Mortal Man.

Very clean bathrooms and toilets.
Very clean bathrooms and toilets. Amazing staff, so friendly and helpful. Amazing breakfast and dinner - loved their veggie lasagna. Wifi connection a bit worse in places but with such beautiful countryside all around it didn’t bother me.

This hotel is extremely outdated and in need of a complete refurbishment, it is dirty and smells of damp.
The staff were pleasant but all very young and there didn't seem to be anyone in charge. The food in the restaurant was over priced and poor quality. £28 for a rib eye steak with chips but the steak was chewy and gristly and the chips were undercooked and hard! The price didn't even include a sauce!
It was clear that they knew the room was smelling of damp as they had cheap Reed diffusers and air freshners around to try and cover the smell which made it worse!
The only thing good about this place is the stunning view from the bedroom window but even that doesn't warrant the £225 the one night stay cost me! All I can say is avoid at all cost until they've gutted the place and started from scratch!

Troutbeck isn’t in Windermere so the listing is confusing and cost us a bigger taxi fare than expected. However, the scenery is absolutely stunning and there are beautiful walks around the hostel and the staff couldn’t be more helpful. We really enjoyed our stay.

Beautiful location. The scenery is something else & so close to Windermere, there is plenty to see and do. Great pubs & restuarants & if you love relaxing, walking, hiking or cycling, you have it all around you. Stunning, a must visit.

The location was excellent, the views across Windermere are awesome, and the Troutbeck valley is beautiful. Townend farm is a 10 min walk up the road and well worth a visit.
The food was good and great value with free kids' meals and a well stocked bar. There is also a well equipped self-catering kitchen.
We booked a 6 bed room with shared toilet and shower facilities. However, on arrival, we were given a larger room with ensuite, which was a nice addition.
Actually we liked everything about our stay. High Fold Guesthouse is located in a particularly nice spot in Troutbeck with wonderful views. Service and support from the owner is absolutely great and last but not least a delicious breakfast is served every morning. We will certainly go again.
The room and hotel was spotless. The room was spacious and well decorated with a lovely view, the ensuite bathroom was modern with a lovely shower. Breakfast and evening meals were great and the hotel is also dog friendly. We enjoyed our stay and would book again.
Stunning views from a beautiful old hotel. The food was exceptional, as was the staff. It is so friendly and welcoming, and they were more than happy to accommodate any requests. Very dog friendly with lots of bowls for water and dog blankets available.
Lovely hotel in a quiet location, very dog friendly, the rooms are very modern and quiet, nice view of the mountains and the food is stunning.
