The Saxonville is a comfortable and traditional seaside hotel, obviously looked after with pride by the owners. Alison provided us with personal and professional care in the dining area and the meals were superb. Just out of the busy area of Whitby it offers a quiet stay with a private car park, all within an easy stroll of the beachfront and town area.
Boasting stunning cliff-top views over Robin Hood’s Bay, this grand, Victorian hotel is on the edge of the North York Moors.

The most unusual place we have ever stayed in, in the best way possible. Absolutely perfect for the area and the Whitby vibe. Quirky doesn't even come close! The lovely staff and the perfect attention to detail, the fabulous breakfast in bedroom service, the views of the Abbey and bay. I could go on but you need to experience it for yourself to be able to get the awe of the place. I would say though open the desk if you are in the Lewis room, cheeky! The bed was the most comfortable bed we have ever stayed in! Like a cocoon. The big deep bathtub was glorious. Thank you so much for our last minute booking, we were blown away by the whole experience. If we come back to Whitby it will only happen if we can book with you.

i love the views of the water. the river views , harbour views, sea views which can be seen from different areas in the town centre or from the east or west clifftops . and benches everywhere to admire the views for free or a lot of bars and restaurants have scenic views . The shops are quirky and unique with something for everyone if you dont mind very crowded areas of people . the town bus tours seem to be popular with day rider deals and go via the abbey ruins on the cliff top if you dont want to climb the 199 stone steps . there are stopping places and benches to rest on the 199 steps in victorian times its where the pall bearers used to put the coffins on the long climb to the top and st marys church /burial ground. if you want history or just a night on the town whitby has it all

Great choice of eating places and a decent variety of things to do, especially if you appreciate the history of the town. Quaint with a whole range of shops. Locals are very friendly and prices are not really over the top. A fiver for a 20 minute boat trip is pretty good.

I loved all the character of the property, as soon as I walked in it had a very elegant Victorian feel to the building. It definitely stood out as more than an ordinary hotel room.
The room was clean, comfortable and very spacious,it had everything you could need.
The bed was so comfortable, I had a brilliant night sleep.
The hotel is in a perfect location with only a short walk into Whitby town centre and had parking on site if you didn’t want to pay parking fees in town.
I loved my stay and would definitely stay again.
I liked that the hotel was situated on a cliff close to whitby beach, I liked that if you ring in advance you csn reserve a car park space with your name above it, I liked that our view was of the sea, the shower was amazing, the bed was comfortable, there were 3 points of interest on the doorstep, the view from the front of the hotel was stunning, the room was cleaned and everything was neat and tidy when we returned to our room on the second day of our stay
Great historic hotel very close to the sights in Whitby. Lovely spacious room with settee and four poster bed. Very friendly and helpful staff. We arrived early, parked the car in the hotel car park, then popped into the hotel reception to inform them. Room was already cleaned and ready, so we checked in. Great breakfast quality. Great tea & coffee facility in the room, Yorkshire Tea a real bonus.
We love that the hotel & pub are next door to each other love the walk into whitby all downhill bus or taxi back great car park never have to worry about finding a space & breakfast is great served in the lovely penny hedge pub.the staff are the best so friendly helpfull & really seem to love their job
Spacious area, quality bed and bedding, spotlessly clean. Easy access to the apartment, parking permit for the two day stay. We've stopped all over Whitby, in a variety of hotels and apartments over the years and this is one of the best and highly recommended. Great value and location for the price.
