FAQs about hotels in Dublin

Great History, Greenery and Pubs

Dublin is home to more than a quarter of the entire Republic of Ireland’s population and was originally founded as a Viking settlement. A lot has changed from those Viking days, and Dublin is now famous for its literary history and the most green-spaces of any other European capital, making Dublin a real Irish gem.

Dublin Castle is at the heart of the city's history and Trinity College holds the renowned Book of Kells, a beautifully illustrated manuscript from circa 800 AD. The Ha’penny Bridge is the city’s most photographed landmark and the statue of Molly Malone celebrates the heroine of Dublin’s unofficial anthem.

Dublin is home to many important literary figures including Oscar Wilde, William Yeats, Samuel Beckett and George Bernard Shaw. As the famous location of James Joyce’s “Ulysses”, the city offers tours tracing the protagonist’s footsteps.

Being one of the most youthful European cities, Dublin has a vibrant nightlife scene with the popular Temple Bar area and plenty of bars and pubs, which invite you to stay out until the wee hours of the morning.

The Dublin Airport is the gateway to your Irish holiday, so whether you’re looking for a stylish hotel, a self-catering apartment or a trendy hostel, Booking.com has a perfect deal for your Dublin trip.

I lived here for a while back in the late seventies so basically knew my way around. like most large cities Dublin has nice areas and not so nice areas. however, as mentioned in my review the prices are absolutely ridiculous. to put things into perspective paid 60 euro for 2 drinks, 1 fish and chip and one tiramisu, 20 or so miles north of Dublin at a services 2 huge fry ups with all you could eat and 2 refillable coffees cost less than 19 euros for two. that's for both and not each. you can make your own mind up whether Dublin is extortionate or reasonable value if you visit. if money isn't a problem it's definitely worth staying there though.

I loved Dublin — it was my second time there!

I loved Dublin — it was my second time there! It’s lovely to stroll around Temple Bar and grab a beer, or relax in one of the many beautiful parks. The atmosphere is vibrant, the people are kind, and there’s always something going on. Great mix of history, music, and green spaces. If you're staying more than four days, I highly recommend taking a bus to explore other Irish cities, like Galway or Kilkenny.

Don’t ignore red flags on hotel reviews, they are there for a reason ….if you want to have great holiday and not mental break down. Otherwise Dublin is great city, I never had bad experience there over last 18 years in hotels. Just choose wisely and don’t go just by nice taken pictures.

Visit Temple Bar - thriving and welcoming, plus you can get a pint of Kilkenny! Jameson Distillery visit is well worthwhile. We enjoyed the hop on and off bus tour, with live commentary throughout from the driver, but be prepared to wait 20 mins for the next bus if you hop off anywhere!

    The room was tiny.

The room was tiny. There were NO draws in the entire room to put clothing and only ONE spot to put a carry on suitcase. So the other went on top of the desk. There were one rack with 3 hooks to hang about 8 articles of clothing. NO other space other than about 18" to walk around the bed. That was the entire room. There's NO A/C and it was hot while we were there so we had to sleep with the one window open and it was still too hot. The noise from the street was very loud and went until 2AM every morning. So we didn't sleep well. They did provide us a fan when we asked and it helped marginally.

Dublin was very different than expected.

Dublin was very different than expected. Being from London we weren't very welcomed by locals. Extremely expensive. 18 Euros for a vodka coke in most places and 7 euros for a WKD! St Patrick's Cathedral is beautiful and worth going to. Molly Malone statue is amazing - Please do not touch her inappropriately! Temple Bar is amazing to see but as expected very expensive! Coppers nightclub 10 euro to get in but is a very big place, gets filled up very quickly and lots of bouncers and staff throughout so felt quite safe. There's a bar opposite the Hard Rock Cafe called Thunder rock cafe it was 9 euro a cocktail and they were giving out free shots at the bar, definitely recommend. Music was great. Overall, I wouldn't come back in a hurry but would come back for a birthday or hen do ect!

This is easily the best hotel I've stayed at in Ireland (and I've been to a few). The room has all the facilities you may need and more, and is impeccably kept. Breakfast has plenty of choice and is abundant. Location is right in the heart of Dublin and makes a great base to travel around (although the city centre does get rather dodgy at times). The price was pretty reasonable for Ireland (although it's usually much higher). Staff are usually helpful. Restaurant was also good.
