We had a truly wonderful stay! Everything was perfect from start to finish — the room was spotless, the amenities were excellent, and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. But what really stood out was the staff: incredibly kind, attentive, and always ready to help with a smile. Their hospitality made our visit feel extra special. Highly recommended!

Near the Slovenian border, Trieste combines the waterside setting of Venice with the elegance of Vienna. The Habsburgs ruled here for over 500 years and built Miramare Castle on a rocky outcrop to the north-west. Their other influences include stately Piazza Unità d’Italia, looking out to sea and spectacularly lit at night.
But this is just a glimpse into Trieste's long and fascinating history. The 1st-century Riccardo Arch hides in a narrow street, and part-way up the hills behind the city centre are Roman theatre remains, while columns from the Roman forum stand next to San Giusto castle and cathedral.
The most photographed church is Sant’Antonio Nuovo, overlooking a boat-lined canal. The nearby Stock Exchange has a colonnaded façade and its square houses some of the city’s shops. The most popular cultural attraction is the Revoltella Museum of modern art, while more sobering is Risiera di San Sabba, a former concentration camp near the Palatrieste and Nereo Rocco sports stadiums.
Watersports include windsurfing and kitesurfing from the port which is an important coffee importer. Unsurprisingly, the city’s Viennese-style coffee houses serve top-quality brews, and the best is reportedly Caffè San Marco, once frequented by famous authors.
Booking.com’s Trieste accommodation includes hotels with pools, cheap apartments by the station and B&Bs near Ronchi dei Legionari Airport.

There was so much to appreciate in terms of architecture and dining experiences as well as excursions. Loved the hop on trip to the Castle and learning about the history of the people and area.

The city is so different from the rest of Italy, with its strong Austrian influence and architecture. It’s truly beautiful. Picturesque sea views and lots of history. The Grotto Gigante is also well worth a visit.

Trieste is a fairly safe city, radically different from traditional Italian cities. It is well laid out geographically, but the streets are very up and down, not all of them going directly down to the sea in a radial system, but winding. For a start you may need a navigator if you are going up from the sea or from the center to the top of the city. The architecture is quite varied, with many places to admire.

My first time to Trieste and I spent 4 weeks there studying.
My first time to Trieste and I spent 4 weeks there studying. It exceeded my expectations - it's easy to get around, either walking or bus or ferry or getting on a train to neighboring towns. Easy day trip to Ljubjlana in Slovenia. Nice walking trails just outside the city. Lots of interesting museums and cultural activities. And, of course, gelato!

Absolutely loved this stay! The host is kind and just wants you to feel at home. Which you will. The best way I could describe this stay was like being at my nonnas. So full of love, comfortable home vibe, and more snacks and treats than you'll ever need! It was so great. I would come here again and again! It is the top apparentment, so lots of stairs, but I loved it. It actually added to the character and charm of where you are staying. This isn't a hotel. It's a home. It's been my favourite in Italy so far!
Spacious and clean apartment in city centre of Trieste, great for one night transit stay to Venice, our final stop in Italy.
All major attractions, cruise port, ferry docks, the canal, and train station are all within walking distance
Novo Albergo Centro was the best hotel we stayed in during our week in Italy, along with Pensione Stork.
Albergo Centro's rooms and breakfast were wonderful. I can't recommend it highly enough.
Very helpful at reception, glass of wine on arrival, coffee on leaving, good recommendations on where to eat.
General decor is appropriate for the boutique hotel listing
