Such a unique old house with lots of nooks and crannies. Mr. McCaw has managed to put bathrooms and closets in every room, along with a mini-fridge and setup for coffee and tea. The lounge and dining area have a view of the town. I wish I'd had more time to chat with Mr.McCaw, he's an interesting guy.

Loved the Heritage streets and shops as it was very easy to spend a couple of days. We would have seen more had it not been raining. Although the rain did not stop us from venturing out, train, farmers markets antique shops and galleries were awesome. Our dining experiences were enjoyable! Cucina , Del Mar and Badger and Mackerel Cafe !

    Loved the property & location.

Loved the property & location. Lovely home & really spacious. The shower temperature was a little too hot & when you turned it back to a better temperature the water pressure dropped which wasn’t so good, but in general the whole experience was really lovely for us and just a minor thing.

    Love Oamaru.

Love Oamaru. The people are friendly, the buildings wonderful, and there are some great shops including the pop ups. Excellent coffee and great food. The early poppies are beautiful. We are retired and always enjoy our visits to Oamaru, especially when we are going to a show at the Opera House.

We chose an overnight stop at Oamaru on our way from Queenstown to Christchurch. It is a quaint little town. We love the Victorian architecture building and friendly neighbourhood. We could have stay for an additional night at Oamaru.

The North Otago (base in Oamaru) area is a hidden gem.

The North Otago (base in Oamaru) area is a hidden gem. Penguins, seals, steam punk, cheese factory, crayfish and blue cod at Moeraki, historic sites. And good restaurants in Oamaru and the area (Whitestone Diner -- as long as you like cheese, Fat Sally's, Fishwife, Moeraki Tavern, Hampden Fish shop and others). We go back regularly and the area rarely disappoints. To enjoy fully you need a car.

We normally choose to stay in Bela Vista because of the value for money. However the experience we had this time was rather disappointing. We understand everything became expensive lately, however, it was disappointing that there were no improvement to the standard of the accommodation while the price was gone up at least $50-70 per night. We stayed on Tuesday night which is not even busiest time of the week and nothing was happening in Oamaru. I don't think we would choose to stay at Bella Vista any more.

High quality bathroom facilities and beautiful decor. Exceeded expectations. The location was amazing, Brydone Hotel is in the CBD. We were travelling with a ute and a trailer and the parking at the rear of the building was outstanding, with plenty of room. (This may be different if an event was on, but our experience was that it was perfect for us (we phoned first to check). Polite staff, this accommodation is of excellent value and delighted that we stayed there.

Clean tidy well presented room and friendly owners at reception. The facilities in the room were excellent. The door into the room was a little sticky to get open, probably because of the heavy rain..Otherwise would recommend to anyone wanting a good motel in Oamaru.
