First, Christine was amazing and helped us with all of our issues and questions, so thank you to her.
Both rooms do overlook the horse racetrack which is nice and they both had balconies if you can get over the Rotorua smell (not hotels fault). I checked all beds for bed bugs and the linens did feel and smell clean, so that was another plus.
Overall, I do not recommend staying here.

Room was nice and well decorated with a good bathroom. Staff were lovely and helpful. My partner paid for a meal at breakfast and said it was great. The outdoor pool and mineral pool were fab. I think accommodation prices are quite high in Rotorua overall.

Property felt very boring and dark walk ways no vibe

Rotorua is living proof of the magnificent, and sometimes mind-boggling, might of nature. Smoking hot springs, bubbling mud pools and fast-spouting geysers give the surrounding landscape an almost other-worldly feel.
This New Zealand city sits in the Waimangu Volcanic Valley, the world’s newest geothermal hotspot. It was created after the 1886 eruption that covered Te Wairoa Buried Village, between 2 of many lakes gracing this fertile terrain. By Lake Rotorua’s shores is the luxurious Polynesian Spa with its thermal pools. Just behind in Government Gardens are the city’s best cultural offerings: the Arts Village, Tamaki Maori Village and Rotorua Museum, in an elegant former bath house.
Native animals roam in Rainbow Springs Kiwi Wildlife Park below Mount Ngongotaha, accessible via the Skyline cable car. The views while ascending make it obvious why this is called the Bay of Plenty. Tikitere Thermal Park on the opposite side of the lake is known as Hell’s Gate, but as long as you can ignore the sulphuric smell, the spas are simply heavenly.
More springs are in Whakarewarewa Thermal Reserve, whose surrounding forest is popular for mountain biking, and Wai-O-Tapu where the Champagne Pool is a striking mix of green and orange.
Booking.com’s accommodation range is as diverse as the scenery, encompassing luxury hotels, cheap hostels and motels near Rotorua Airport.
Rotorua was a great place to visit. Mitai Village, Hot beach, waimangu volcano were all interesting places to visit. If you like to hike, the 9 mile hike to hot beach and the hiking trails in the Mokaihaha Ecological area are both great hikes .
Just don't stay at AWA hotel.

As we were only doing a two day stop over to catch up with family and friends, on our way to a wedding, it was just enough to get us time to do these visits and still have time for ourselves. As were not "exploring Rotorua" we did not need extra time. Would recommend at least 4 - 5 days if you are new to the place and want to do all those sights, that Rotorua has to offer.

Rotorua is a nice clean town with plenty of general shopping available. I felt that the tourist attraction were overpriced, but everything was well organized. The vulcanic activities are quite varied and unique.

The accommodation ideal for 3 adults with separate bedrooms: 1 with a double and a single bed - the other with a double bed, extremely comfortable. staff welcoming, 3 tv's. Room service breakfast which we liked and a the restaurant had a good evening menu selection. we had a jacuzzi and use of the spa bath and whilst the swimming pool was a bit limited for size and depth it was very relaxing. the Pitch and putt was fun and the games room ample size, cooling / relaxing 10 minute walk around the stream was refreshing. the staff are brilliant and i could not fault them - well done

I just enjoyed the town and the attractions I came to see. The townspeople were friendly, as were shop assistants. The people who were employed at the attractions went above and beyond to entertain us, educate us, teach us of their culture. They were all very proud of their heredity.
Thoroughly enjoyable 😉

Rotorua is an incredible destination with a wide range of activities available.
There's many wonderful scenic places that can be visited for free, such as Kuirau Park with its geothermal features at the lake end of the park, or if you prefer, take a stroll through the Redwood Forest.
The Government Gardens are a very popular scenic spot and if you carry on down the road on the left you will find access to a lakeside geothermal area.
I've not even mentioned the many beautiful lakes that Rotorua is famous for or the many excellent 'manmade' paid activities but there really is something for everyone.
It's also a fabulous area for cycling, especially so if you enjoy mountain biking.
There's plenty of dining options though my favourite for many years has been The Fat Dog Cafe and Bar which offers great coffee and a wonderful food selection.
The location for this hotel is very central in Rotorua, only being a few minutes' drive from the city centre. The room had two floors, two bathrooms with two televisions and a hot tub. There were full kitchen facilities and the room was tidy. We particularly enjoyed the extra facilities of the pool and the in-room hot tub which you can use until very late. The staff were exceptionally nice and welcoming, giving us some local tips and made the stay better.
This was a last minute decision to come here Christmas eve and escape the usual time spent with the family outside our little family but it was the best decision! Amazing staff, who were so friendly. Perfect hotel for a family stay. Buffet was delicious, games room was epic and the pools were fantastic. Would come here again next Christmas. Parking also very easy.
The hotel as a whole was fantastic. The room was spacious and clean. Service levels were on point and breakfast at the main restaurant was great! The hotel is perfectly located just off Fenton street so it was quiet and a perfect getaway for the family. All the main attractions are a short distance away which is extremely convenient. Will definitely be back.
Nice clean spacious room. We booked this room specifically for the balcony which a lot of other Hotels do not have in Rotorua. The Spa was great and cleaned after every use.Great location within walking distance to a lot of great cafe's and restaurants. Lots of parking outside with a long stay carpark a couple of minutes away.
Old roomy historic hotel well maintained in prime location. Friendly accommodating staff - when they ran out of dinner special first night, they comped us a fabulous dessert - then reserved the special the next night for us at the fireside table. Great little hot tub area - great breakfast buffet!
Great family getaway destination in Rotorua (although the facility is quite aged, there is very nice outdoor heated swimming pool for children to play). We stayed across two executive suite rooms the rooms were clean and cosy. Very friendly staffs especially Aditya’s assistance was noticeable.
-Very family orientated
-staff always on hand and ready to be of service
-Had lots of useful information regarding nearby activities and things open on Christmas Day in the area
-Had all the necessary facilities that on a rainy day it was perfectly fine to stay at the hotel with children
The staff are amazing. The property is getting a bit tired. They charge the appropriate rate so did not expect a 5 star hotel. But the lovey staff made it a great stay.
If you want a nice clean hotel with warm and welcoming staff then the best place to stay in Rotorua is the Copthorne.
Great location right in the center of downtown Rotorua and a very nice hotel! Our room was spacious and comfortable with a great bathroom and kitchenette. Nice view as we were on an upper level. The staff were very helpful with questions and assisting with parking.
Fantastic stop especially if you've been in hotels a lot or a small group/family. We enjoyed using the facilities and was nice to be able to cook a meal. If you have a small family I imagine this being a great wee getaway
Hideaway is a fabulous place - great modern facilities and a lovely relaxed feel. This is my second stay and I will stay again. Rotorua motels/hotels are a bit hit and miss these days. This is a good one!
The location is good with plenty or nearby parking if the main hotel carpark is full. Beds were comfortable. Free wifi was very fast and easy to connect to. Breakfast was okay but had decent selection.
Nice clean rooms with your typical hotel basic facilities. Loved the location. Walking distance to lake and shops and eat street. Great place to stay if you have function on at the Events Centre.
The hotel had everything we asked for. It was comfortable and close enough to the city centre and fun activities we planned for our family.
The hot tub was amazing at night 😊
All of my family enjoyed our stay at the Rotorua Novotel, was close to the lake, park for the kids and all the food shops just across the street was great thank yous. ☺️
