Very beautiful city, loved everything about it. Especially watching to sunset in the park across the main bridge. Everything was within walking distance and there were some amazing food places. One very nice place to eat was called Grill It. We visited for 10 days.
We visited for 10 days. This was our first visit but we plan going again. There was so much to do we didn’t have enough time. We started with a walking tour where we got lots of suggestions of things to do as well as an overview of Porto. We loved the Mercado do Bolhao. I loved the place where we stayed.
I loved the place where we stayed. It was truely a mostly quiet jewel of an apartment. But, the weather was too hot for both of us so we went out early mornings and came back to the most comfortable accommodation and on the ground floor of an apartment on the 'oldest street in Porto' high up some steep hills (well worth the climb!). From inside there was an amazing panoramic view of the city's red rooftops and the bustling River Douro. On arrival, a big surprise was to receive a free bottle of Port when it was discovered that I was celebrating a special birthday. Easy to escape by bus, train & boat on tours (my favourite), as well as a fun and informative tuk tuk tour around the city. We enjoyed a very atmospheric Fado night - superb guitar playing as well as both female and male singers. I highly recommend Fado Maior as a venue. 🎶Guest review bySt.johnUnited Kingdom
