STF Abisko Turiststation, hotel in Abisko

Please note that bedlinen, towels and departure cleaning are not included in the rate of Cottages, Quadruple rooms, Family rooms and dorm beds.

Clean property with a lot of communal space/lounges for hanging out after a hike or during a rainy day. The breakfast was great, nutritious, filling and offered options for a variety of diets. Staff are very friendly and the location can't be beat to explore Abisko national park, especially if you do not have a car. Sauna was basic but nice. Wi-fi available throughout the building. Beds were comfy. Lots of trails right at the property to explore which is nice if you want to go for a night hike.

Perfect place to stay if you’re visiting Abisko! I recommend an upgraded room, the basic room with two twin beds was quite tight but doable. Dinner was fabulous and the lounge area with fireplace and bar are cozy and perfect! Breakfast options were fantastic!

Views of the northern lights are great.

Views of the northern lights are great. Stay a few days to increase the chance of seeing them. We went there on the train which stops near the mountain lodge where we stayed. If you have a cabin you have cooking facilities. There is a good supermarket in the village. There is only one restaurant so book a table. When there is snow make sure you have good footwear. There are walks around the hills and down to the lake. Not so accessible in Autumn/Winter though.

If you like to walk, like outdoors then you will love this place whether it is winter or summer. The scenery is breath taking and there is so much of it. When I booked our 4 days there I was worried it would be too much, it turned out we would have liked more time there. We would suggest that as everything is so remote that you are best with your own transport. Public transport is very very limited.

Abisko is a really beautiful place.

Abisko is a really beautiful place. We went there to see the Northern lights and we were not disappointed. We also joined a snowmobile trip near our accommodation and it was fun and adventurous to tour around while riding the snowmobile and see wonderful sceneries. There are some other activities that can be done in Abisko too. Loads of love from Malaysia.

Abisko is small and friendly with a significant international population during the tourist season. It was easy to reach by overnight sleeper train from Stockholm. There is plenty to do but most people were there to see the Northern Lights because of its reputation as one of the most spectacular and accessible places in the world to see them. The only place to buy food is the convenience store attached to the gas station but it has a good range, at the prices you would expect for such a remote place. We visited in a “heat wave” of -15C in December when the locals expected more like -25C. Most accommodation and activities rent or provide boots and clothing to help you cope!

We particularly liked the fact that Abisko is remote and unspoilt. The scenery and mountainous backdrop are breathtaking and to have been able to hike around the area was delightful. Seeing the Northern Lights on our second night, facilitated by Alex, was a dream come true and furnished us with some amazing pictures to take home to those who didn’t believe we would see them. We ate a good, reasonably priced meal at Abisko Turiststation and would have liked to have tried the food at The Mountain Lodge but it was shut which was a shame. The supermarket nearby is well- stocked and comparatively reasonably priced for essentials such as milk and bread. The village is easily navigated on foot and well-signposted.

    The natural part is stunning.

The natural part is stunning. Both winter and summer periods are filled with activities. Winter is special for the northern lights and 24hours night while the summer is known for the midnight sun and the Kungsleden trail for hike.

Extremely friendly and helpful staff, Klaus. Rooms are comfortable and clean. Shared kitchen, bathroom, and shower are kept clean and very accommodating. Dining area was spacious for groups. Free parking on premise. Very close to Abisko National Park. Check in was extremely easy, organized, and detailed instructions given to you ahead of time. There's a souvenir/gift shop and tours you can book with them. All around, great value for your buck!

We had a wonderful stay. The room and common areas, including the bathrooms, were very clean. Kitchen is fully equiped and well organized. It is close to Abisko Östra train station, the supermarket and lake Torneträsk. Acces is very easy on foot to Abisko Turistation and various hiking trails. We were lucky to see the northern lights just outside the hostel.
