At first it appears a bit ugly as there are a lot of dated apartment blocks but we soon got to really enjoy it. Mainly as all the Albanian people we interacted with were so welcoming and genuine. We did a boat tour to some beaches but there were lots of boats taking groups out so quite busy in the private beaches! The main area has plenty of bars and restaurants around. We stayed in Sarande for 4 nights and think it's an amazing hub for a stay on the Albanian Riviera. We ate at 2 restaurants in Sarande, Hera and Gusto - both were very good. There's a lot of tour operators and local buses that can get you where you need to go - from here we visited Gjirokastra (amazing Ottoman town with castle and cold war museum), The Blue Eye, Lekurshi Castle for sunset drinks, did a boat trip (the Vitoria - great value for money) and had an afternoon at the beaches in Ksamil as well. Sarandë is a resort on the Albanian Riviera, in southern Albania. Sandwiched between the lonian Sea and hills of olive groves, the town is on a horseshoe-shaped bay, edged by beaches and a promenade, The city is distinguished by its wonderful view of the sea, with its wonderful turquoise waters,, and limestone hills. After being to Berat and Gjirokraster, Sarande felt a little too touristy, we stayed 2 nights travelled to Blue Eye and Ksamil. Shingle beach and lots of stones when getting into sea. So pleased we had a superb hotel.Guest review byAnonymous

The port was also very closeby so if you’re planning on going to Durres or Corfu this is ideal. The staff was very friendly and let us leave our luggage at check-out since our ferry was leaving later. Our room was very clean and comfortable as well.
