Very safe and friendly. Its also very Mexican, so if you don't speak and Spanish you will get frustrated. The mining museums are great, but again, all in Spanish.
Its called the windy city by the locals and it does get cold, so keep a coat handy.
Good food is everywhere, but getting vegetarian and seafood meals is a bit of an effort.
Driving around town is pretty easy, they rely on tourists, so they are very western and courteous.

If you are traveling thru Mexico and can find Pachuca on the map then it is worth staying there. The traffic and footpaths are a little congested, but everyone is friendly and its a real piece of Mexico. Its a holiday location for Mexicans, so there is not a lot of English spoken there, we only saw one gent that might have been a foreigner in the two days we were there. So you know you have traveled when staying here. Mining museum is great for all ages and shows the Mexican, British and American history of the area. And the pasties at Restaurante la Blanca on the square are the real thing.

Pachuca is a great place to visit in and of itself but it also makes a great jumping point for some fun mountain adventures. Pachuca is know. for its mining heritage. In Mineral del Chico and Real del Monte you can go in the mines and learn all about it. At Sta Maria Reglia you can go to an old hacienda where they filmed the Mask of Zorro. You can also go to Prismas Balsalticos and see what happens when a volcano and a river collide.

Relaxing small city.
Relaxing small city. Hub for to travel onwards to the montain side and the villages of Mineral del Chicos, Real Monte and Parque Nacional El Chico. Several museums and Culture Centers for example Museo de Minero, Museum de Fotografia.
Ideal as well for a weekend trip if you need a rest from Mexico City. Very good bus connections with Mexico City (around 90 - 100 min travel time from Mexico City)
Execellent and helpful Tourist Information inside the Reloj Monumental de Pachuca

Staff promptly switched us to a different room they did not have the sewer gas smell, a problem that area of Pachuca was dealing with.
Breakfast staff was extra cordial.
Manager visited during our breakfast to make sure we were enjoying our stay.
Swimming pool was very warm and pleasurable.
Though not the hotels fault, this particular area of town did not have too many restaurants or sites to see within walking distance.
This is a beautiful and modern hotel. The bathroom was huge and the room was large even though I chose the smallest one. The bed was extremely comfortable, and I liked having a refrigerator. They let me check in early which was also nice. It is not walking distance to the center, but there are good restaurants, shopping centers, and banks nearby. Bus station is less than five minutes by combi.
Having worked with Choice Hotel's at one point in my 42 years in the Hotel Industry, I was pleasantly surprised with this hotel.....Also, I can venture to state that this property meets all the standards to actually upgrade to a "CLARION" franchise hotel with Choice.
In my personal and professional opinion, it is at a higher level than a Quality.
Enjoyed our 4 night stay very much.
This is a nice enough place but in no way is it a hostel, which is what I was expecting. It is a hotel with no common area.
The owner(?) speaks some English, which is nice and he tried very hard to be helpful. He even got up very early one morning to call me a taxi.
The shower had very hot water and good water pressure.
The bed was comfortable. (The pillows, not so much)
I liked everything about this hotel!
We stayed here only for one night but it was probably the best sleep I had in a long time.
Beds were very comfortable and also the pillows.
The room was very clean! I am a bit of a clean freak and this place exceded my expectations.
Staff was a bit quiet but friendly enough, the bell boy was super friendly and very helpful.
The restaurant never seemed to be open. We asked and they said yes, then when we were not greeted by any waitstaff in 20 minutes, we asked again at the front desk if the restaurant was open, they said yes, and gave me two menus. We opted to walk out and found a nice pizza restaurant two blocks away.
Good secure parking at rear of hotel that is locked at night.
Excellent value for money - you pay more than double to get the same facilities in Pachuca centre. Hotel is located and designed for travellers with cars - travellers without vehicles will need to take a combi or taxi to get to Pachuca City centre which is about 12 km or so away.
Hotel has air conditioning with heating function which was very useful for our stay as the temperatures were quite low.
The hotel staff was very friendly. THey let us leave our car in the garage on our last day when we had a flat tire.
If you search for a budget hotel in Pachuca de Soto you are on the right place 👍. Best if you travel with your own car because this is kinda motel. We travelled by bus. It's 1.2 km from the bus terminal, which is ok to walk.
The hotel is very nice and has awesome beds. Every room has everything that is needed and more (couch, lazyboy, bed tables, huge TV, USB wall outlets).
