FAQs about hotels in Auckland

Thrilling City of Sails and Volcanoes

Called the "City of Sails" due to the large number of yachts anchored in Waitemata Harbor, Auckland is the largest city of both New Zealand and Polynesia. Built on the Auckland Volcanic Field featuring about 48 extinct volcanoes, this city truly is a blast!

Auckland is a real cultural mix with strong Asian, European, Maori and Polynesian influences, celebrated in frequent festivals and sports events. Some examples of these cultures can be seen at the Auckland War Memorial Museum, one of the best in New Zealand. For more, try the upmarket dining of Viaduct Harbour.

Another must-see is the tallest free-standing tower in the Southern Hemisphere, the Sky Tower. If you’re feeling up to the challenge, you can even perform the Sky Jump, a controlled base jump from 630 feet!

Climbing the volcanic cones as well as the stunning Auckland Harbour Bridge will provide unforgettable, panoramic views of the city’s skyline. For a different perspective, why not try a cruise or sea kayaking?

Getting to the city center is an easy trip from Auckland International Airport. Find modern hotels, comfortable motels and cheap hostels on Booking.com, sure to have the perfect place to stay for your trip.

The city center is not too big, so there is no need to spend more than 2 days here. I would recommend to visit one of the islands close to Auckland like Waiheke, it was the best decision ever. I would 100% recommend to visit the sky tower, but do not waste your money eating at the Orbit 360 restaurant, the food is not worth the money, maybe try the bar.

There was a lot to see. Very easy to get around by bus if you knew where you were going. Extremely hilly as you would expect being in a volcanic region. Boat trips very good. We ate in various places in the city and they were much of a muchness.

Only to be used for landing and departing, or as a base for day trips elsewhere. The city itself doesn’t have much to offer and seems to be dirtier and less authentic than other towns in NZ. The art gallery was my favourite place to visit.

Last visited Auckland 15years ago and had no problems with self driving etc. Today the city seems very sterile, beset with random traffic Issues at certain times and appears largely caused by the construction of an underground railway and not expected to be completed for at least another 4 years.

Auckland parking rates at hotels close to the CBD is ridiculous. This one offers free, safe parking. It’s also one of the only hotels in Auckland that doesn’t have extra charges ie security bond. Our King size apartment was lovely and clean. We had dinner and breakfast there, both meals were great, staff was very friendly and helpful. It was just my husband and I this time but we would definitely take our family here. Highly recommend this hotel, we have stayed at a few hotels in Auckland paying a lot more for less value!

This accommodation provides everything that one might need without costing huge amounts. Breakfast was included in the room price and we were astonished at the extent of options available. The staff were lovely, nothing was too much problem, and we were able to park our car for the duration of our stay. Of course there was an extra for this but it was very reasonable given that we were needing parking in Auckland City! The hotel was walking distance to Queen Street, the Viaduct, the casino, Spark Arena. Perfect for us!

Lovely clean and very new apartments in great location. Rooms had washer and dryer and kitchenette with tea and coffee which was perfect. It had a gym but we didn't use it. Also lots of parking for $25 per night, which in Auckland prices is reasonable compared to other hotels. Staff were very helpful and friendly and gave great recommendations for food near by. We checked in late but they have a call centre that helped us with an easy check in which was perfect. Will definitely come back again.

    1. we could parked by the unit, made moving of luggages easy. 2. Basic and dependable amenities. No-Fuss. #like 3. We're kept warm enough! There's Hot water supply! 4. Shuttle service to bring us back to Auckland airport after we returned the car. 5. The location - its around the airport area. Good for me to pick up and/or return the rental car if i do come into/get out of auckland at the wierdest off peak timing(s).. suited my needs.

Fancy hotel without charging the extra cost for the design. Confortable public places with a lot of amenities useful for budget travelers. Location is amazing. Ok, not in the exact heart of Auckland but pretty close, so don't pay the extra value to be exactly there. Ok, my room didn't had a window but that's why I was paying a very affordable price for the basic necessities, no need more for a couple of days in the city.

Location near the airport was great - without airport noise (I was located in a room on the side away from the airport). Staff were really helpful with queries. Most of all, the bed was COMFORTABLE: firm but with enough give on the top layer so you didn't feel like you were sleeping on a plank of wood. This proves that even budget hotels can provide a comfortable night's sleep, which is mainly what you book a hotel for.

Excellent rooms with comfortable beds, pillows, superb towels and toiletries that compete with top hotel brands. And the room was so, so, so clean and well fitted out with everything you need. We’re now staying at the sister property at Hamilton Airport and it’s just as good. Kudos to the Jet Park Auckland’s night manager who sent a shuttle bus to collect us at 3am and produced orange juice to quench my husband’s thirst.

I also stayed for one night a week earlier. I asked for the same end room ’18’ which I thought was perfect. Clean with tv/wifi kitchenette and large bathroom. Could park outside the door - a unique electronic patio door mechanism. Quiet neighborhood on wide, quiet collector road. 10 minutes from the airport on the way out and close to the cross-city freeway (tried to stay out of Auckland traffic as much as possible).

Everything. As a rule, I am not a fan of Ibis Budget. But this hotel is centrally located with helpful and friendly reception open 24 hours, has comfy beds, decent shower in small but "efficient" bathroom, good wifi, reasonable amount of TV channels for the rate paid and a cute wee balcony. No long elevator waits and a less than five minute walk to airport bus stop. For one person, it's very reasonable.

We've been staying here for 23 years. The property is located close to town. The bed is comfortable and we always get a room with a view. The room is larger than similarly priced rooms in Auckland CBD. Breakfast is generous. Price is cheap for what you get.Free parking too. I don't like city driving so the bus being only $1.10 to town from right outside the driveway is fab. $8 for an uber.

The property was located within walking distance of the airport. There is also a shuttle with a fee. The staff is very helpful and there is A/C in the rooms. There are some nice restaurants within walking distance and a Countdown grocery store next door. There is chilled, filtered water in the lobby as well as an espresso machine. We took an Uber to Auckland’s CBD at night.

I enjoyed the location of the hotel and the convenience of a short ferry ride to Auckland city. In addition it is also a brisk walk or quick bus ride to several nearby beaches.
