Located in the Monastery of Santa Maria de Aguiar, built by the order of Cister in the XI century, is located 2 km from the historical village of Castelo Rodrigo, winner of the 7 wonders of the villages of Portugal in 2017. With an intimate and personalized atmosphere, guests are greeted by the owners with a welcome drink. The standard rooms, which have been recovered from the old pigstones, are now by the pool. The superior rooms are inside the Hostel itself, which housed the pilgrims on the way to Santiago de Compostela. For Families, there are also two houses recovered from old agricultural warehouses. In addition to the curial comfort, the Hostel has the peculiarity of having a Library that can be frequented by guests. Breakfast is served between 9:00 am and 11:00 am in the dining room, which opens onto the gardens and swimming pool, and from where you can enjoy homemade pastries and cakes to the traditional bread, accompanied with natural orange juice, between others. At the table, cloth napkins are essential for an impartial tasting.
The excellent geographical structure of Figueira de Castelo Rodrigo, is the Pousada do Convento de Santa Maria de Aguiar that gives to the visitors the opportunity to discover a region rich in historical and natural heritage. Serving this background the wealth of the Natural Park of the Douro International, a real scenario and Paradise of protected species.
