Scranton was a great place to visit.
Scranton was a great place to visit. Our stay was going well until the evening before our last day my 8 year old nephew was called a racist word by some young white men standing in the hallway of our hotel. He turned the corner of the hallway ahead of us headed to our room and when he turned the corner someone from the group looked at him and said "It's only a ni××××". They may have assumed he was alone. My nephew has never experienced anything like that before and it was upsetting.

We are only on a road-trip overnighter this time but on a previous trip to Scranton I came primarily for the railroad and coal history in the area. Beyond my limited interests, I can't say it's much of a tourist destination (other than for fans of "The Office " TV show). However, it could be considered as a steppingstone to the Poconos mountains area.

Lived there prior. We were in town for a family funeral. Scranton is a good place to be from. Not entirely sure, if all would see it in the same light as we do. However, from a historical perspective, the reflections of the railroad and mining industry still present possibly offers some interesting insight and information.

Visited for a tour of 'The Office' landmarks and mentions.
Visited for a tour of 'The Office' landmarks and mentions. Very cool city with lots of interesting and historic architecture. Interesting Steam locomotive museum in town.
The Glider Diner has an excellent breakfast for a bargain and Coopers seafood is an awesome spot for supper with tons of memorabilia and an extreme selection of beer available.
The streets in town are poorly labeled and riddled with potholes but otherwise navigation was pretty straightforward.
it is a basic hotel (plastic wrapped plastic water cups) but for all that the rooms were quite big with a sofa bed for our teen and great lighting for shares (book lights near beds plenty of plugs and a fridge and microwave) - low end toiletries but good scents! clean room. very cold AC on checking in. for a roadside hotel it was fantastic. breakfast has waffles and eggs and bacon and yogurt and breads. again, basic but plentiful. coffeemaker is pushbutton machine. checkout at noon. good for catching up on sleep.
We have been staying at this hotel for the past four years while our daughter attended The University of Scranton. The staff was usually quite friendly and accommodating. We always found the room clean, the pool area relaxing, and the breakfast very nice. The price was reasonable as well, as they used to offer a U of Scranton rate. Overall, it has been a nice home away from home. We will miss staying here.
We stayed one night on our way north. The hotel is easy to locate next to I81. The room is a nice size with desk and couch. It had a microwave and mini fridge. The bathroom has 2 sinks, one on the outside of the bathroom and the other in the bathroom. Could be usefull but we didn't use the outside one. The shower had good pressure. The bed was very comfortable.
Location was just off the highway and what a fabulous sight the hotel is all lit up at night , we had breakfast which was good and reasonably priced ,. we also had dinner in the hotel bar the food was better than some fancy cafes
We loved the hotel so much booked again on the way back from Niagra falls for an overnight stay .
I wasn't expecting much after reading the reviews but for being a reasonably priced hotel it met all of my needs. The perks were; friendly staff, convenient location, microwave and fridge in the room, and free Netflix. There was for sure a musty hotel feel but it overall seemed clean.
The bed was surprisingly comfortable. Slept like we were on a cloud. The breakfast was pretty good...not like some hotels that have a nominal breakfast just to say there was some food. Pool looked nice too...we felt bad we didn't have a chance to use it
The hotel was well appointed. As expected, its origins as a railroad depot were well illustrated in the layout and features of the hotel. This was a key attraction for myself and my friends. The rooms were spacious and the restaurant/bar was very good.
Nice location in Scranton. Located in downtown city near all must sees. We enjoyed our stay in the hotel, it was very nice. We also enjoyed the great amount of bathing products in the bathroom.
Room: has a terrible smell, could ear neighbors conversation and TV. Heater unit does not work property. Room furniture was in very bad shape. This hotel should be shut down.
The room was large and comfortable.
Breakfast was surprisingly good.
Hotel was quiet.
Staff was helpful and friendly.
VERY convenient parking with no surcharge.
A classic hotel I'd been meaning to get to for a long time. Very happy to finally be there. We asked for an upper room, which offered us a good view of the city.
