Historic area
Buffalo has so much to offer. From the waterfront with great restaurants, boat charters, and kayaking and canoeing, to the beautiful architecture and interesting museums, the whole city feels alive with wonder and intrigue. It has a little bit of everything - if you want to feel small amidst skyscrapers and disappear into the crowd at a show, downtown is your spot. If you want to escape to the country for a stroll through the woods or gallop across sprawling fields, head to East Aurora or Newfane. There is shopping everywhere - great unique boutiques with special one-of-a-kind treasures, high-end department stores with all the new stuff, restaurants with five-star offerings from around the world. Buffalo is definitely a world-class destination with hometown charm. Diverse and alive with life and opportunity, this All America City is definitely one to visit if you're looking for a special place.

We visited the Buffalo Zoo, which is the third oldest zoo in the country. It was under renovation but it was nice, small compared to other zoos I've been to. I loved that it was in an old neighborhood and easy to access. Lots of places to shop and great wings, pizza and craft beers. Of course if you are close to Buffalo you have to pop over to Niagara Falls which is always beautiful to see and a short 30 minute drive.

The location was great.
The location was great. Took us no longer than 20+ minutes to get anywhere. Lots of walkable restaurants. However, the beds were not queen size, they were maybe twin or double. Also the pool and hot tub areas were down when we went to use them. I'm not a fan of having to pay $15 a night just to park my car. Shouldn't that be part of the stay? $220 to stay in a room with small beds and no pool/hot tub and then more money to park. Nah, not right. We went to the Bills stadium. Casinos, put put, Niagara falls and wax museum.

As far as the City of Buffalo, I knew what to expect.
As far as the City of Buffalo, I knew what to expect. The property could use a little more human touches, i.e. more towels, there were no face cloths available, there was some paper products (kitchen and bathrooms) but not enough to sustain our stay (we did purchase more). The house was very clean and spacious with enough bedrooms and baths to support our group.

We travelled the week before Christmas so the snow was heavy, but we were impressed with how the town cleared roads and pathways. We stayed at the Residence Inn Downtown Buffalo which was a perfect location for both walking around town and getting to the highways with our rented vehicle. Everyone we met was extremely friendly and helpful.
The Sheas Theatre on Main Street is a must visit as the architecture and decor is stunning. Colter Bay bar and restaurant on Delaware Ave and Allen St, has a great vibe with live music and fantastic chicken wings. Cafe 59 on Allen Street, is also a great small bar restaurant with fantastic dishes and great service. We primarily went to Buffalo for an NFL game, and access to Niagra Falls and Canada, but were pleasantly surprised as to all the other attractions Buffalo has to offer.

Considering the horrendous weather I had for 4 days I continued my plans. Will definitely return in more favourable conditions. Looks like lots to see and experience the revitalizing of Buffalo. Would like to have the canal area via walking but again the weather was too wet, windy and cold. Stayed in Allentown which is getting a new lease on life, so I will look forward to visiting again in the near futute.
Our main reason for visiting Buffalo was to see a hockey game at the KeyBank Center. The location of the hotel was perfect! The arena is less than a block away. While there weren't many convenience stores located near the hotel area, there were a couple of nice restaurants within walking distance as well as a Tim Horton's on the corner. For the history buffs, the hotel is located near several historic sites and museums. The hotel staff was wonderful! Everyone was helpful, polite, and very pleasant.
This place was fantastic. The staff was friendly, courteous, & attentive. Alex was cordial & extremely helpful with getting me a ride to my event. He was engagingly knowledgeable about the greater Buffalo area. He made me feel like a valued customer. The rooms are fresh, clean, & well kept. The elevator smelled fresh and were quite fast but yet smooth running. I highly recommend this great hotel & am trying to find somewhere else to see so I can stay again.
It is a beautiful old mansion and something different from a regular chain hotel. Staff were incredible - helpful and courteous. The breakfast was delicious. We were a 10 minute drive from downtown and would recommend. The hotel has recently been purchased and we learned about the history and while there are some small things that look a bit tired, there was no impact on our wonderful stay - I would definitely stay again!
We had the unfortunate experience of being caught in the US when all the borders were closed. Luckily we got a room here to wait it out. In the early morning someone thought it would be funny to call in a mass shooting report and they sent a swat team. Thankfully we did get to go home that day. The hotel staff were very compassionate and understanding. Very helpful in an unpleasant situation
Don’t let the just a little tired exterior fool you. This is a really nice hotel! The shower was amazing! The rooms were clean and the clerk made sure to direct us to the fun bars and restaurants downtown. It’s just a half mile from the Anchor Bar (home of the original Buffalo Chicken Wings.) Also try Gabriel’s Gate on Allen street. There’s a Tim Horton’s across the street for breakfast.
Alex at the front desk was friendly, polite and knowledgeable about the area.
Room was clean, microwave and mini fridge provided.
The hotel restaurant/bar had great service and food was tasty.
The hotel was a block away from Allentown (allen street), lots of low key bars. We walked downtown to the Venue and Underground bar took 20 minutes.
Parking was included
Advertised hot breakfast was a cold grab and go, room was hot first several days, only blanket was a winter quilt so we had to go to store and buy a blanket, had to go to Lobby to get ice, noisey upstairs neighbor at night, No fan In Bathroom, had to get your own towels. Definitely not a luxury hotel!
Beautiful old mansion in the heart of Buffalo. Staff is helpful and friendly. First drink free in the cozy bar, fabulous breakfast included. Comfortable room. Walking distance to restaurants. The hotel offers transportation short distances when necessary.
A hotel with a lot of character and very centrally located. The king room/suite was very large, had a separate living area, two TVs, a large sofa and beautiful views. We could walk everywhere around downtown to get food or see the sights.
Hotel and staff were awesome. Easy walk to the hockey arena. And the hotel restaurant and staff were excellent...and the food there was the best. I would recommend this hotel to anyone staying in buffalo. A1 service and accommodations
Absolutely everything. Great hotel. Especially liked décor. Rooms are spacious, corridors as well, extremely high ceilings. A lot of history in this place. It was a pleasant surprise. Would recommend, definitely.
ROOM NOISY…ANYONE IN THE ROOM ABOVE TAKING A SHOWER COULD BE HEARD
BREAKFAST… COULD NOT HAVE BEEN ANY CHEAPER … DO IT RIGHT OR DON’T DO IT AT ALL. Charge an extra buck or two or don’t do it at all.
The hotel was well located in downtown Buffalo, and the room was comfortable. The staff were friendly and very helpful, especially when a friend became unwell during the trip.
Nice and tidy hostel with friends and a fully equipped kitchen in the center of Buffalo. Bus stops to the airport and Niagara Falls within a couple of minutes walk.
The staff was very polite, the hotel and parking were good, the breakfast was varied. The hotel is located close to the airport, great if you are traveling.
