Real Bookers. Real stays. Real opinions.
Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United States of AmericaIt would’ve been nice to have a teapot for hot tea or coffee available in the room
Margarita, Fernanda, and all the staff at this hotel were incredibly accommodating and gracious hosts We were running the Santiago marathon and they took great care to be sure we were well fed and caffeinated on the morning before the marathon, and that we were made super comfortable once we celebrated our success & completion of 42K The rooms are restored beautifully, quiet with great solitude found in the gardens and shared spaces Breakfast was fresh and bountiful The concierge Margarita gave us great recommendations for sites to see and museums of interest Would stay here again

AustraliaHot water was not so hot, hair dryer did not work and when I just mentioned these on checking out I just got a shrug so reception did not seem to care.

NetherlandsI had to take breakfast before the breakfast time - they did it anyway for me. Super friendly staff. Nice recommendation for dinner close by. Beautiful old palace in Santiago. Way better than a classical impersonal hotel - excelent valuenfor money. Neighborhood is a traditional one in Santiago, but these days not the safest. Just make sure you are taken there by taxi if you come by night.

United States of AmericaThe bathroom needs better lighting and a brighter reading lamp would be helpful. If you're a large person, get a room with a bigger shower
The serene garden, the eclectic decor in the impeccably renovated traditional architecture and the kind and attentive service; especially our day tour with Oscar.

United States of AmericaLocation. Barrio Brasil has much to be desired these days and it just did not feel particularly safe. I actually chose to move to Barrio Italia with my cohorts to spend the rest of my nights in Santiago.
All of the amenities were great - the room was enormous and comfortable. The breakfast was excellent and everybody there was super helpful and friendly.

United KingdomSome of the furniture in the rooms is a little old. We didn’t stay long in Santiago but think the location is a little far from some of the tourist attractions - a short cheap Uber away though!
The hotel is lovely - a converted old house and the main areas are decorated very nicely! Nice garden too. Rooms are simple but comfortable and clean. A great breakfast was provided and the staff were very helpful!

United States of AmericaI found the pastries to be stale all three mornings and there was not much choice of cold cuts, and no salad. Hygiene around the handling of cereals was lacking. There are only 2 long chairs in the garden, which is not enough for all the guests.
The property is beautiful and we enjoyed having breakfast in the garden - omelets were excellent. and fresh fruits were welcome The staff was very nice and helpful. Our bed was comfortable. If I had to go back, I would pay a bit extra to have a view over the quiet garden.

United KingdomNothing at all, I really can't fault this hotel! Maybe more fruit at breakfast?
We were met at the airport by the hotel's taxi driver -great guy and very informative. The check-in / concierge staff were really friendly and helpful, too. The hotel is a grand building, and has cozy relaxation areas both inside and outside, where you can enjoy a drink from the well-stocked honesty bar. The breakfast was nice, too, with a continental spread and eggs cooked to order. The bed was comfortable, too. We had a wonderful stay here.

AustraliaStairs are old and creak when other guests walk up and down
I recently stayed at Matilda's and found it to be a charming property just outside the city center, yet conveniently walkable. The staff was exceptionally helpful, and the breakfast served was perfect. The highlight was the beautiful backyard, providing a serene escape for relaxation. During our stay, we explored Santiago extensively, walking from the hotel to the city center, visiting Christobelle, taking the funicular for panoramic views, descending on the gondola to Providencia for lunch, and strolling all the way back. It was a fantastic 30,000-step journey, all manageable for a day's outing from Matilda's. Returning to the hotel in the afternoon, we enjoyed a relaxing beer in the garden, surrounded by the tranquil atmosphere. The library with its wonderful collection of books on Chile added a delightful touch to our stay. Matilda's provided a perfect balance of exploration and relaxation, making our experience memorable.
