Fantastic location perched on a hillside above the Messinian gulf and lots of balconies and sitting areas to take it all in. Up a winding, one-track, road from the coast (arrive before dark!) but once you make it there is lots of parking. Had a studio apartment which was one big room with a sitting area, bedroom and kitchen. Staff was very friendly and even helped us with our laundry. We were there in April so Kalamata was still quiet but this was our spot to chill in the middle of the trip and worked perfectly for that. Definitely recommend!

Beware that you need a car to get to the hotel as it is situated high in the moutain.

The pool was really cold.

The pool was excellent and had a beautiful sunset view as well as views of the water and city below. Our host greeted us as we pulled in and was very friendly. The entire property was beautiful and super clean. We had a bedroom upstairs with a toilet and sink. Downstairs was a full bed and pull out couch along with the kitchen area and full bathroom. Both levels had great patios. The windows had great screens so we could sleep without bugs entering the room. We ate dinner in the room and had everything we needed to prepare our meal.

Wonderful location. Amazing view over the Messinian Gulf. Lovely room and a beautiful infinity pool. We walked every day up the mountainside to the tiny village of Verga to collect fresh mountain spring water. It was an amazing experience to visit such a beautiful place but the highlight of our time at Petra Thea was the welcome from our hosts. Dimitris was very friendly and helpful. His mother is lovely and she couldn’t do enough to help us. Special mention also goes to the lady who cleaned our room. Greek hospitality at its finest. We will be back again next year.

Aside from the unforgetable views, the beautiful stay and location that was close to local beach's, restaurants and attractions, the hosts and essentailly Dimitri were lovely and very accomondating and attended to very need. We loved our daily chat's with Yiayia who we will miss dearly. Petra Thea has been a highlight of our holiday to Greece !

Maybe it is about time for the hosts to think about replacing the mattresses of the beds. To be honest they were not that comfy for my preferences. At least in the room that we stayed for 3 nights.

The view was amazing and the room was nice and clean. The whole atmosphere of the area was very relaxing and quiet. I really enjoyed the swimming pool and especially in the afternoon when you could see the sunset in front of your eyes. Extra point for the barbecue in the garden as I saw some people using it.

The narrow road up the hill was very steep which was a little difficult for our rental car in the rain when we arrived but was fine when it was dry. It would have been nice to have more comfortable chairs to lounge on the private patio and maybe some rubber on the bottom of the patio furniture so it wasn't so noisy when moved.

The views from the patio and from the infinity pool were breathtaking. We loved watching the sun set from the patio as we ate dinner. The kitchen was equipped enough for our dinners of takeout-plus-fruit and the location was close enough to restaurants that offer take out. The internet connection was stable and strong enough for streaming.

This stay was unbelievable. We booked for a one night stay in the off season and were initially drawn in by the beautiful view, but the atmosphere was so calm and the room itself surprised us by how lovely it was. The sun sets over the water so we highly recommend sitting by the pool to watch this. Dimitris was a fantastic host, we mentioned we were looking to do an olive oil tasting but everything was closed when we went (a Sunday in March) so he prepared one of his own for us. It was a kindness we won’t forget.

You need a car to get to this place and the drive up and down the hill is quite dark at night. However Dimitris offered me a solution to contact the restaurant that was able to deliver delicious food to my room.

Lovely stay with an excellent view, big room, comfortable bed and a superb host Dimitris. Left my jacket behind but realised it only 2 days later in another city. With Dimitris who went above and beyond to mail the jacket, and even coordinated with my final destination hotel, I was able receive my jacket. Definitely the most value for money property that I have stayed in.
