I had reserved a twin room (and understood it was with two beds) but when we arrived it was a bunk bed. It was metal IKEA bed, and the mattresses weren't good, we both woke up our back hurting. The mattresses also made noise when turning. The room was very small, with no other furniture than a small dresser, not even a chair because that wouldn't have fit in it. The price of the room (117€) was quite high for that kind of a box.

The staff was very friendly and welcoming. The bathrooms were clean and newly renovated as well as the common area and the room. The kitchen was well equipped and coffee and tea were included. Sheet were comfortable and very clean.

Bedrooms were a little small.

Free parking, flexible self check-in, good location, good value for money. Bathroom, kitchen and living room facilities were great. Food and atmosphere at the restaurant over the road was excellent!

Excellent location to the Fimmvorduhals trail and Skogafoss. Modern interior, good size kitchen and open common room. Bathroom spacious, clean, heated floor. Quite a few bathrooms available.

We had a quad room (we were 2 adults and two adult children), and the room was very spacious with great views across the plain to the sea. The kitchen/living room has everything you need - oven, kettle, microwave, dishwasher, etc. The location is secluded and quiet but perfect for glacier/waterfall tours.

There was no freezer nor a hairdryer. I couldn't find any baking trays either. Would be handy to keep sanitiser spray in showerrooms so I could clean before and after use.

Loved this guesthouse. One of the best to stay in when in Iceland. It's cosy, clean, and in a beautiful location. Underfloor heating was bliss .

Truthfully, I only booked accommodation in Steinar because most properties in Vik had already been booked; those that remained were too expensive. If possible, I’d suggest booking in advance for Vik. Although kind at check-in, the staff forgot to collect my payment and were a bit difficult to communicate with after we checked into our rooms. I sent a message via Booking asking for more toilet paper after some of the guests seem to have taken some with them upon check out. I received an (automated?) message stating, “In this society, all garbage is sorted, if not the garbage trucks do not take the garbage.” I asked again and received the same message. After we checked out and were already on the road, I received a reply from a staff member saying that the toilet paper had already been refilled. I would have been better off stopping in to ask the staff in person at their restaurant across the street. Unfortunately, we were out both days until late at night and they were closed by the time we returned in the evenings. The bunk beds were also squeaky. We didn't spend any more time than necessary at this particular guesthouse.

South Iceland Guesthouse is located just off the main road Route 1 near Skogafoss and Seljalandsfoss. The restaurant across the street had a great selection for lunches and dinners. Parking was free and easy to find.

The room was adequate, but the view of the mountains out the window was spectacular. We enjoyed hanging out in the kitchen/common area, and the restaurant across the way was excellent.

The rooms, unlike the common areas, are very simple. The bathroom does not offer any amenities like shampoo or soap.

The property is located along the southern route and easy to find. Its proximity to both Reykjavik and Vik make it ideal for a trip down south. The bathrooms and common areas, like the kitchen and the living room, are very comfortable and modern. There was tea and coffee available.

I was pretty happy with our stay here, but if there was one thing, it was that the shower I used did not drain properly, however this has probably been dealt with.

We enjoyed a comfortable stay in a very large and spacious room. There was a well-equipped kitchen with dining area and living area. There were also three (or four?) bathrooms, which was great.
