Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

JapanThere isn't a convenience store nearby if you're wanting to grab quick snack. There's also one short big hill to climb before arriving to the property.
The room and the common space were so cute and spacious. We enjoyed the amenities and the little decorations everywhere. There is a bit of a walk from the bus, but that wasn't a problem for us. We were able to walk through the cute neighborhoods.

NetherlandsBathroom rather cramped but good shower and comfortable room, nicely and efficiently decorated. Steep climb to guesthouse was a challenge w/ large suitcase for my 2 week vacation/study visit.
Proprietor was very friendly, helpful w/ golden tips. Had made dinner reservations for us👍. Extremely helpful colleague had driven us down steep hill with my large, heavy suitcase. Much appreciated!

AustraliaThe last 50 metres up to the property is reasonably steep but should be quite manageable for anyone without an impairment

FinlandThe room was nice and clean, and quite big. We had two bunk beds in our room. We had our own bathroom situated just outside the room. There was a small kitchen for making breakfast and some complimentary coffee and tea. Johnny was very helpful. He gave us tips on what to do on the island and where to eat. He even made a reservation for the restaurant. The location was good. The Honmura Port was very close by. From the Miyanoura Port it was just a short bus ride to the accommodation. The Naoshima Art House Project was just a short walk away and the Benesse House Area could be easily reached by bus.

United States of AmericaThe house sits on a very steep hill and we weren't aware of that prior to coming. It was fine for us but, I would not recommend for anyone who is disabled.
I loved staying here! The room was very clean and spacious and the staff were extremely kind and accommodating! The entire house was very cozy and there was lots of guidance on what to do in Naoshima. I was even able to rent a bike from the owner for the day. My only regret is not staying longer! I will definitely visit again and I recommend it to anyone who is looking to visit Naoshima.

Hong KongNote the steep drive, which is very manageable for anyone of normal mobility incl our young kids
Quiet and convenient location. Has everything you need, including shared basic kitchen facilities. Note no food for breakfast nearby (we were there in winter)- we prepped for breakfast for kids each day by hitting the 7 Eleven the day before. Johnny v helpful - helped sort our bikes out and made bookings for dinner both nights.

JapanThe guesthouse is up a very steep slope. Not really a problem, but when staying here it would definitely be better to use a backpack rather than a suitcase.
The bedroom was comfortable, and the communal area is extremely nicely decorated. It was good to have kitchen facilities available.

AustraliaLugging my heavy suitcase up the steep driveway. But that was my fault and other guests were travelling much lighter.
The staff made me feel welcome when I arrived and helped me make a reservation at a nearby restaurant as there aren't a lot of dinner options on this side of the island. Then Jonny introduced himself and helped me plan my itinerary for the next two days so I wouldn't miss anything. I wasn't expecting my room to have two double bunk beds and a separate shower and toilet but this was okay and I soon settled in. The communal area is very comfortable and relaxed with a range of art pieces on display that suits the whole vibe of Naoshima Island.

CanadaThe web site states that the toilet and washroom is "outside"; this means " private but outside the room". This was a concern at the time of reservation but it turned out no problem at all.

AustraliaNothing at all.
This was such a lovely stay, closer to Honmura and a great base to explore the Art House Project sites. The service was fantastic: I was picked up from Miyanoura Port and made to feel very much at home here. And this feels like a home: you stay in rooms within what feels like an avid art enthusiast's home. There's many quirky artefacts and art magazines to explore. The twin room is large and very comfortable.
