It is a bit old hotel, and you can feel it from everywhere however, the fact that it was very clean, despite being that old has impressed me.

We had a great sunrise with you from the room. Onsen (Japanese bath) was also nice with the ocean with perfect ocean view. Hotel has a great location, and staff was quite helpful too.

Regarding the swimming pool not working matter, we should have been notified while booking the property. Since we were looking forward to it. Also, coffee sachets were not provided in the room. Since the property is foreign-friendly, the hotel should provide it considering its foreign-friendly firm.

We like the beach view. It was nicely managed. The room was good, too. services were also great.

Although the whole place offered a great feel good factor with its views, bedroom sizes, excellent breakfasts, it’s external and internal decor is a bit tired and would certainly make a vast improvement if this was improved.

It has a great sandy beach below and it is ideal for all especially surfers. The room was very large offering fantastic views out to sea and down to the beach. There is a hotel shuttle bus taking us to Shimoda but we also caught a local bus not far from the hotel.

The beds were very hard. We had to add extra comforters. Also, we would have liked a bar overlooking the ocean for late afternoon/evening snacks and drinks! Need a place to lounge after a long day of walking and site seeing. Our patio would have been perfect, but it was cold and rainy out!

Our room was very comfy and so close to the beach! The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was very extensive and delicious. The breakfast buffet one of the best yet! Location was good - close to Shimoda City yet private and quiet with its own beach. Excellent parking facilities.

Carpet's old, definitely need some rennovation. The A/C did not work properly. Breakfast menu is limited, too expensive for the food option.

Love the location, easy access to the beach and the food choices available at the hotel. I liked that there was parking at the hotel and a swimming pool to swim at night.

The hotel is on the older side but with lots of charm, like with any other ryokan hotels.

The hotel was built ends of the 70s and still has the style of those times, which is no bad at all. We had the topfloor twin room with a (not to deep) balcony and had an amazing view over the whitesanded Shirahama Beach, which is the main attraction of the hotel. The hotel also has an onsen with views over the beach too. We did not use it tho. We also had dinner at the hotel as it's mostly the only option to eat, as there is not much else around the place. But the dinner was really great: I had a Sashimi/Tendon set and my partner had a delicious steak set. Also there is a shuttle service to and from the Shimoda train station.

The hotel is dated, it has visible signs of wear and tear and could use some updating. There isn’t much for food options, either in the hotel or nearby, you will need some kind of transportation to get anywhere for a meal unless you’re happy eating overpriced sushi and Japanese food in the hotel restaurant. The pool is closed? Not really sure, no one said anything about it, we never saw people in it and couldn’t even figure out how to get there so we’re assuming it was closed.

The view from the room is excellent, can’t be beat. The hotel has its own private beach. It’s quiet and the staff are very nice. Housekeeping cleaned our room even though we didn’t ask for it (or need it) and changed out our towels after one use. There is a little shop downstairs for trinkets but doesn’t have much for snacks.

One staff member was extremely rude when our family was outside the hotel, around 11:30 pm talking and enjoying our last night at the Prince. The staff member kept coming outside and telling us to go to our room and go to bed. He then got the security guard and forced us into the hotel and was told we need to go to our room.
