Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence

To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

A very friendly hostel, the host speaks good English and was very helpful with local knowledge. The room was clean and comfortable. Simple self-serve breakfast and a shared space for guests. It is very quiet at night but there is traffic noise in the morning as the city wakes up.

The room I was staying in was downstairs room so it was a bit noisy as you can hear everyone moving around upstairs.
Very spacious room with comfortable bed. Great amenities and location was excellent. Simple self serve breakfast but the fresh fruit was a great bonus.

I wish the staff was a bit more present but overall very nice
Very nice location (7 min from the port so easy to get to other islands too) and private tatami room. Also very nice to have breakfast and be able to use the kitchen

A very simple accommodation with a very friendly hostess. We arrived early but were allowed to check into our room. The place is small and cozy and clean. The room was a simple, well lit (2 windows) Japanese style space with futons and a small table with two chairs. The showers were OK. The first morning I ran out of hot water, but the second was fine. The WCs and wash rooms were clean. The breakfast is simple but I had not expected breakfast at all, so it was a nice surprise. Good, thick toast with jams, butter, peanut butter. Bananas and tea and/or coffee rounded out the breakfast. Location near the port and to several restaurants is great. Overall no complaints!!!

Well priced and well located friendly place to stay whilst on Naoshima. There is tea and coffee available for free during the day and the bathrooms were clean. The owner is really welcoming and very kindly helped us with our laundry.

Would be nice if beds were laid out when we arrived Lighting in the room is very bright and harsh, would be good if there was a small table lamp
Close to the ferry port which was ideal as we arrived in the evening. Close to restaurants and near a bike rental shop. Toast and Jam for breakfast set us up for the day. Overall excellent value for money and good for just one night

Beds were hard but cannot complain at all given the stay was incredible value and more than comfortable for a one night stay to see the sights of Naoshima.
Amazing location, great comfortable bedroom and facilities. Breakfast was simple but great. Leave your suitcases before/after check in a plus. Owner was lovely and lounge a great place to meet other travellers, which is hard to do in Japan! It was very cold outside and bedroom stayed nice and warm.

Friendly and helpful host ready to provide advice and tips, hotel was located quite close to the ferry and had a number of restaurants and coffee places in the immediate (5 min walking) vicinity. Breakfast was simple but efficient.

Hard to complain with that price.. But if I have to mention anything then the noise from outside very early in the morning. Other than that a small improvement would be to replace the fluorescent blue light with a warmer light bulb, to make it more cozy :-)
