Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

GermanyThe bathroom is a bit far away. No restaurants around, so you need to ride to one of the 2 towns (for us was not an issue as we had bikes).
A great place to stay in Naoshima! First, the location is very peaceful and it is directly in front of the sea - great to wake up or to enjoy the afternoon after visiting the island. The location is amazing as you can see the Benesse House Museum and the yellow pumpkin from Kusama from there - very close! The rooms (tents) are basic but have all you need and are not too cold.

United KingdomShower block wasn't the cleanest. Yurts looked tired. Beds were quite hard - good for some, but not all.
Location and surroundings are wonderful. Yurts were clean and spacious. Private bath and shower was well worth the price.

JapanNothing really; you pay for what you get. The beds were a little bit on the harder side, but slept very well so can't complain.
Great location near the yellow pumpkin and right near the sea. Easy to come here by bike, but might be a bit more difficult by bus or by walking, but totally doable.

AustraliaI think for the cost, the value of the dinner and breakfast didn't match my expectations. The food was fresh and tasted fine, but for the same cost compared to other dinners in Japan, it was lacking a bit. Perhaps the inflated cost might be due to the fact it's on an island and harder to source ingredients? We originally thought to reserve the meals because we weren't sure when restaurants on the island would close. However, after being on the island there were quite a few good options. Based on my experience, I wouldn't go out of my way to book the included meals next time.
The place was quaint and relaxing. The staff were helpful by putting our bags (we left our luggage on the morning we arrived) ahead of check-in in the rooms and in reserving our taxi to visit the onsen which was greatly appreciated. The facilities were comfortable and it was nicely located at the last stop for the bus, which made it convenient. Even though it was rainy, it was a cozy stay.

The accommodation is in a beautiful location at the seaside of Naoshima island. Benesse House is at walking distance and a free shuttle service up to spectacular Chichu museum is available. The location is the end point of the town bus with direct connection to the ferry. From the outside the cottages look a bit dated, but inside they are nice and convenient with an excellent view. Staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Don’t forget to order meals in advance. They are good quality and there are few to no alternatives around.

AustraliaYou have to enter into the character of the property. It could be described as “glamping” (glamorous camping) and enjoy it for what it is. If you have the right attitude—and good weather (important) — then it’s great fun. Don’t expect luxury and you’ll have a good time.
The seaside ambience is authentic and homely. The light and atmosphere inside the yurt and outside in the green spaces make this truly a unique experience. We had lovely weather; it could be very different in wind and rain.

United KingdomShowers felt quite exposed and just to note it is a coin shower so an additional cost. But hardly surprisingly when camping. I was staying alone so it does make the cost a bit more expensive but still worth it I think for such a unique stay.
Amazing location for a really special stay. It was so nice to stay just by the beach. The campsite is also right by the bus stop from the main port so was really easy for me and my heavy luggage. Super close to the galleries too. You can also see the yellow pumpkin from the site! Staff were all really friendly. The caravan was surprisingly comfy and I slept really well. obviously it is small but that is to be expected so bear in mind if you are tall.

PhilippinesIf you stay in a yurt, be ready for having a bathroom that is a hundred meters away. It may not sound like a big deal but, at night, especially in freezing weather (the sea winds can get really strong), you may end up thinking twice about leaving your yurt to take a bathroom break.
The location was excellent, right next to the bus exchange, and right next to the sea. Kusama's yellow pumpkin was just a stroll away, as was the Benesse Art Museum. I stayed at one of the yurts, and it was definitely an experience worth sharing. The yurt was surprisingly functional for up to four people, with heater and power plugs. And the breakfast udon set was delightful.
