Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

We stayed at this hostel from May 15 to May 18. The owner is very kind, and all the staff are very nice too. The owner, Madrew (I may have spelled it wrong, sorry), looks quite like the former USA President Obama (see attached photo), and the hostess Shama, they are very helpful and have done more than they should. For example, they let me store my large luggage for 10 days for free (from May 28 to June 7), which was really helpful. The location is good as well. We tried to find a place on the edge of the old town, as taxis won’t go into the old town. It is a very convenient location with many restaurants and markets around the area. After turning into a quiet street for about one minute, you will find this hostel in a very quiet place. You can start your walk around the old town from here. It's about a 15-20 minute walk to the center of the old town. You won’t feel bored at all while walking, as there are numerous stores and restaurants along the way. I strongly suggest having dinner on the rooftop of this hostel. It has very Moroccan-style decoration and the food is wonderful. Anyone visiting Morocco for the first time must try the Tagine dish. Aida Alaca provides authentic Tagines, and the dinner includes either beer or wine. By the way, almost all restaurants in the old town do not serve alcoholic drinks. This hostel’s dishes are more authentic. The cook is a housewife-looking lady who comes to the hostel to cook for you. It was really the best dinner we had in Marrakech.

United KingdomEverything about our stay at Riad Alaka was amazing. We stayed for 6 nights and the whole time we felt at home. All the staff were extremely friendly and helpful, nothing was too much to ask. The attention to detail was exceptional and the rooms were cleaned daily. The rooftop was a beautiful place to relax and it is perfectly located for a short stroll into the medina and perfectly located for a taxi as only a short walk from the road. At night the Riad is quiet and relaxing with limited noise from the city. On our first day we had the wellness package which we would highly recommend. It was a great and relaxing beginning to our holiday. Meals were homemade, traditional and delicious. We would highly recommend to anyone visiting Marakech for any amount of time. Thank you so much to all the staff for a lovely experience, we will definitely be returning and recommending to anyone who plans to visit.

United KingdomThere isn’t really a roof top view but they do serve the meals there and it had a good breeze during the night at this time of month. Other than that, it was a relaxing stay.
The staff were the most friendly and lovely people. They always had a smile around their faces. The receptionist, Mimoune, was very helpful and attentive. Even the lady cleaner was very accommodating. She showed us one of the rooms she was cleaning as some of the rooms have different themes. The Riad has a little pool that is nice for cooling off at the centre that has different coloured lights on during the night. They have a lovely receiving area in front of it that they offer delicious tea and snacks when arriving. It is near the exit where you can hail a taxi and around 10 minute walk to Bacha Coffee and 15 minute walk to Marajah Spa. Although they have their own hammam and massage, I haven’t tried it since I had already pre-booked for another one prior.

Everything about the property was fantastic! The owner is very kind and ensures you feel safe and have a great stay. I did a hammam, massage, and dinner package. It was one of the best meals I ate. The breakfast was also very delicious. It’s just off a side street from the medina allowing for a quieter atmosphere. I am a solo female and felt very are staying there and very safe walking around.

We had a great time with Majhoub and his team. They made arrangements to collect us from the airport and we were welcomed with fabulous dinner. The Riad was superb. It's located in the Medina, which is full of hustle and bustle, but we were in a quiet spot within an easy walk to everything. Majhoub helped us put together an itinerary for the week, which was super helpful. We visited the Atlast Mountains, a lunch with a Berber family, enjoyed a hot air balloon flight and visited a camp in the Agabay Desert. Majhoub was very clear to relay that I was a veggie to the organisers of any tours with food. Our driver, Abdou, was excellent. He was extremely knowledgeable, professional and had a very warm and friendly personality. He was with us most days and told us a lot about the country, different areas, and history during our travels. We felt extremely safe. The staff were fantastic and we felt like we were part of the family rather than guests. Our thanks go to Majhoub, Abdou, Mimon, Aziza, Merica and Soraya and anyone we have missed - sorry (I think I have their names correctly!) for making a stay extremely special.

United KingdomAfter a long journey from London we had to resist a hard push on buying a private tour - despite us saying that we had already booked one (at a fraction of the price). We ended up paying for a cooking class and meal which although were good was good home cooking quality rather than the wonderful meals we had out at 5* restaurants at half the price.
Riad was lovely - very authentic and absolutely beautiful. In the medina a short walk from the main square and steps from some great local restaurants. Rooms were clean and big and bed was comfortable. Staff were really friendly.

NetherlandsI am a picky eater and I think the breakfast could be improved. Fresh pancakes were nice but the pastry (e.g. the croissants) were not fresh in my humble opinion. A few areas in the room need more attention in terms of cleaning. Two examples are the airconditioning and bathroom ventilator was full of dust. These are minor things though, overall we really enjoyed.
The location, the staff and the room was fantastic! We were warmly greeted with tea and cookies and given information about our stay. We also highly recommend the hammam & they offer, quite a nice experience. I particularly enjoyed the hammam, the lady performing it was really sweet and respectful.

United KingdomThere was nothing to dislike. The entire staff were welcoming, helpful and made us feel at home. The success of the Riad Alaka is built on this wonderful asset and it was demonstrated every day, from the answering of our questions to a simple passing smile.
Riad Alaka gave us an exceptional experience for a long weekend stay of Thursday through to Monday and became a welcoming home from home as we celebrated a family birthday in Marrakech. We booked two double rooms and the suite for our party of six and from the moment of our first arrival we were treated like returning friends rather than simply guests. The contrast between this haven of original refined elegance and the chaotic ambience of the Old Town is extraordinary but yet is fundamentally important to experience and understand to really appreciate the amazing culture of Morocco. We enjoyed hospitality with true generosity. From the lavish breakfasts to the two evening meals we choose to have in the Alaka, the service and preparation were excellent and the sense of belonging and welcome an absolute pleasure.

United KingdomThat we had to come home. I wish we had done the hamam our first night at the Riad. It would have been good to have the dirt and stress of the travel washed away that first night. I'd still want to do it again on the last night to prepare for going home. The hamam is a great experience.
Wow...what a little gem just inside the Medina and a truly magical experience. Our good experience started prior to the trip. We contacted the Riad through the booking.com app to arrange airport transfer and a meal our first night. We received prompt and friendly responses from hotel staff. Then when we arrived at the airport (which is a gorgeous airport by the way) we were met by Abdu in a lovely posh car. Abdu was friendly and attentive and chatted about Marrakech, things to do, places to see. (he's a great driver too). We got into the Medina and we were then met by Madju and someone to take our bags to the Riad. The Riad is probably about 100 metres inside the gates of the old city and located on a narrow alleyway just off of a very busy 'road' through the Medina. There are motorcycles, donkey carts, stalls selling everything, and crowds of locals going about their business - a complete cacophony of sounds, smells, sights - stunning but a little overwhelming at first. I was so glad that Madju was there to guide us to the Riad that 1st time. Once you started walking down the alleyway the world stopped...it was so peaceful and quiet. Once you set foot into the Riad you are transported to another world. It is gorgeous and we were welcomed with a lovely cup of mint tea and some lovely biscuits. A lovely Moroccan welcome. Madju also helped us plan our itinerary and we booked several day trips with his company....and they are all superb. Really trust him. Madju and Abdu took us places on differernt days and we saw, learned and experienced so much with these private trips. They were great. The food at the Riad was great too. We never got the eggs or omelettes...just ate all the yummy Moroccan pastries, yoghurt, fruit. The hotel staff were lovely and friendly. We did the hamam the last day...sublime. When we go back we are going to do the hamam our 1st day and our last day. The entire stay helped us get a real taste for life in Marrakech..
