Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

ItalyThe room was discounted but we did not know they were having works on the façade. We had limited visibility to the outside and had workers exactly outside out windows for part of the day, dramatically impacting privacy, in particular in the bathroom as it does not have curtains.

United KingdomContactless check in so can only really ask questions via WhatsApp. Felt like the hotel came second to the restaurant. The downstairs toilet was closed when I arrived and I was told it would be cleaned/opened the next day for the restaurant, so I had to go up two flights of stairs to use the toilet in my room. Stairs are super steep and old so tricky for me with my luggage. I asked for help (for my safety and because dropping my bag would likely cause damage) and this did not go down well. It seemed like a massive inconvenience (when it took maybe 3 minutes) and the attitude really put me off. I wouldn't have asked for help if I hadn't needed it.

United StatesOn the first day, I remembered the instructions on how to open the door, but my mistake was not informing my husband. When we arrived, he rang the doorbell, and a man opened the door in a rough manner, almost shouting, asking if we hadn't read the instructions, repeating it about three times. It was indeed an oversight on my part for not discussing it with my husband, but that's not the way to treat a guest, especially considering it was raining and we were carrying luggage, raincoats, and trying to look at our phones.
Spacious room. It was very comfortable the bed. The location is perfect.

Great location and price with a very convenient key-less check-in, digital unlocking of front and room door! Provided you have a close look at the perfectly timed emails and WhApp messages, it’s a super system. Nightcap at the cozy well stocked bar was a nice bonus! Rooms are very nice, clean and a good size. Room 10, 2nd floor, is a beautiful one with an original wooden beamed ceiling! Loft-like, very nice!

GermanyNothing to complain really. The main thing has been discussed already by other travelers which is the noise. I went on a Tuesday and there is a restaurant downstairs. Of course, you can hear a lot since it's an old building. But around 23h, everybody was already out and then I couldn't hear anything anymore. So I had no problems sleeping.
Super easy to check in, they make sure to give you all the details beforehand. They were nice enough to let me check in later since my train was delayed. I was positively surprised by the room. It was cozy, big, well decorated and it even had coffee/tea. The location is excellent, close to the main station and to the city center. I'd definitely go back!
