Nothing to dislike really!

The room was excellent! Very big, with big closet and room for luggage and desk. The bathroom was amazing, spotless clean with plenty of amenities and the shower was huge. The bed was very good and big, the fridge was full and there was a coffee machine with capsules. Everything perfectly cleaned with excellent service. The facilities were excellent with everything you need and the hotel was very close to train station and city centre.

There wasn't anything I did not like.

The hotel is beautiful and the rooms were immaculate. Staff was terrific and helpful in providing recommendations for places to see and dine in Utrecht. They even helped us charge the plug-in hybrid car we rented. Utrecht was an afterthought for us, but we were so glad we visited there. We had a full day and made the most of it - walking around the city, dining, and shopping. Some great bakeries restaurants. We drove there from Schipol and it was an easy drive. We liked that it was just outside of the city center - still only a couple hundred feet away. Close enough to be minutes away from main streets. We could stash the car and just tour on our won.

This is a beautiful hotel. Parking right outside the hotel, very easy to get to. Staff were lovely. Good sized rooms, loo was separate from the shower - bonus whether sharing with a friend or partner. Very well equipped, comfortable beds, selection of pillows. Great location, a few minutes from the centre of Utrecht and the main rail station. 25 mins into Amsterdam. Utrecht and its canals are far calmer than Amsterdam. Lovely bars and quaint shops.

Great place to stay if you are coming with the car - they have spacious secured parking. We really liked the room as we could see there was a lot of thinking and put in designing the room. The hotel has two excellent restaurant but you need to reserve in advance. Highly recommended to do so.

The standard house wine at the bar was a bit cheap, but definitely drinkable. Consider spending a little more.

Karel V doesn't disapppoint, I come here at least once a year, this time the reception staff was better than before. The "roman" wing is cheaper and new. The "napoleon" building has much more style. So if you have the money go for the old rooms.

I like to stay in hotels with some history and that was the case here. And I had a marvellous room, after discussing with the receptionist, with views to front and back. Ask for room 212. I’d also like to thank the staff for helping me get in touch with a garage to quickly sort out car trouble, much appreciated, Rob and Lenny.

As I have said, the breakfast could be a bit more up-scale for the class of Hotel and the fantastic room it was served-in! The room was really great however access was only by means of walking to a nearby building and in our case through rain! walk

All was to our expectations! The breakfast room was exceptional whilst the offering at breakfast were just good. Location was very good with walking access to the central city. Parking was also very good and at a reasonable price.

Shower was a bit small considering the hotel rating and room rate. Wellness area ok, but floor slippery when wet.
