Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

The Boutique Hotel De Doelen is a classic townhouse in the middle of the Grote Markt in Groningen. In the old house, which is in a well-kept condition, you can explore the center of Groningen directly. From here you have everything in the immediate vicinity within a short walking distance. The breakfast was excellent and was completely sufficient in all respects and we really enjoyed it! Right next to the hotel is the well-known cafe/restaurant/bar De Drie Gezusters, Groningen. This is also part of the hotel, very practical when things get more entertaining If we come to Groningen, we would love to come back here!

LithuaniaHotel is a bit worn down, however it is an old building so its understandable. It didnt bother us.
The staff was extremely friendly, we were met with a cup of tea, very friendly frontdesk and free upgrade. This is not the first time we stay and I can definately say they have improved since last time.

FinlandMy view from the window was not that good, but for me that was no problem. Minibar/fridge would be nice addition.
Location and the historical building was perfect. Staff was very friendly, especially Jony at the reception. . Coffee machine in the lobby was very nice. Loved the bathtub in my room. Also the complimentary drink tokens were a nice surprise. I fully recommend this hotel.

FinlandIt was a bit noisy until 02 on the market square due to some drunk students. However, this are things to cope with in a student town…
Cozy and very friendly staff. I love History so this place felt perfect.

GermanySince it's located in the middle of the city and is surrounded by bars, it's to be expected to be a bit noisy, especially if you stay there during the weekend. Since our window faced directly towards the Grote Markt, we had a lot of noise during the night, which kept us awake for a long time. A better window insulation would probably help dramatically.
We booked the room with the sauna, which was absolutely lovely.

NetherlandsI didn't like that my initial room wasn't clean. A bit of a letdown after traveling hours. Only to find out that the bathroom isn't cleaned properly. As well as finding out that some gunk from a previous visitor was in the bathroom. I have pictures of it but I'll spare the details. A more thorough cleaning and treatment of fungus in bathroom is advisable. Other than that everything was perfect.
I was very impressed with the staff working that day. The initial room was not up to standards and the 2nd room wasn't clean. The 3rd and final room was better as the facilities made up for some mishaps. A nice upgrade in the end. I sadly have forgotten the name of the lady at the reception but she took great care of me. She really saved the day and made my stay pleasant in the end despite a rough start. If it weren't for her efforts to accommodate me the tone of this review would have been significantly less merciful. Great customer service! The location is superb and the building and interior were interesting. I would consider visiting again.

ItalyPerfect position, in Grote Markt, the main square of the city. One minute by walk from Forum, the most famous attraction of the city. 15 minutes by walk from the main station as well. In the sourroundings there's supermarkets, shops, cafés. Alice, the hotel receptionist, was very kind and helpful. Reccomended it!

Czech RepublicUnfortunately, there was mold in the bathroom, as the fan did not work. What did work, though, was the AC of the neighboring building right outside the window and the noise was sometimes very irritating. (I guess there is nothing you can do about it except for wearing earplugs.) Quite unfortunate is also placing the bed right in front of the window, so you can't open it more than like 15 centimeters and ventilate the room.
Beautiful hotel, in an excellent location, and very friendly, and helpful staff.

United States of AmericaA beautiful old hotel (the oldest in Groningen, the receptionist said) right on the Great Market. Lovely wood-paneled lounge, friendly attentive staff. Super bathtub with hot water at high pressure. There are signs of wear and tear, and they are planning to renovate. I hope they don’t ruin its old character.
