Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence

To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

The bed - we paid extra for an “extra large double bed” which turned out to be two single beds, which moved apart and made the night very uncomfortable for both of us

There were cobwebs on the chandelier and a couple of bugs in the bathroom but that is all. Better weather would have been nice, but that can't be helped.
The staff were very friendly, welcoming and helpful. The food at breakfast was great, The location was excellent for our needs.

No lifts so if you have big suitcases, this could be a problem (that said, the staff helped us up with our light bags). The room we had had steps down into the room which made it difficult getting out as you had to step back down to pull the door inwards.
Wonderfully welcoming staff. Relaxed ambience throughout the property. Elegant dining rooms. Large comfortable bedroom with good amenities in the room. Very nice evening meal (for a separate price) and an enjoyable breakfast (included in the price). Excellent value for money (in the week).

This is a historical building and the rooms are a little on the small side.
Fabulous service, an amazing historic building and awesome grounds. Amazing food, too! Magnolia in full bloom outside the window. And the property is just 15-20 minutes from Giethoorn.

Special Hotel with really special staff. You can feel yourself like kings but at home at the same time. Located at a picturesque park with lake. You are waking up with the birds songs.

There was nothing about this hotel we didn’t like.
This hotel, is an absolute gem. Everything about it was right, the staff were attentive, helpful, and went well above what we expected. The rooms are comfortable, clean, with a great view. Breakfast was included in the price, lots of fresh fruit, breads, coffee, and the best honey I have ever tasted. This hotel is set in beautiful grounds, and has a beautiful and easy to get to location. The outstanding thing about our stay, was the staff. We also met the owner, who couldn’t have done enough for us. Another beautiful gem about this place was the pub located within the hotel. If you are thinking of staying anywhere stay here. We will definitely be going back.

An exceptional hotel in all respects: Unpretentious luxury, attention to detail, a most friendly and efficient staff, signs of the owner's good taste and love for quality abundant everywhere from the immaculately maintained gardens down to the smallest decorative artifact. No complaints whatsoever.
Stadspaleis hotel was the best hotel we stayed in for a long time. The hotel stands in a beautiful position, the staff was very helpful and friendly, public rooms were lovely and full of history, the comfortable bedrooms were well equipped and the restaurant was very cosy and served excellent food. Our stay of 1 night was too short and we hope to return there for a longer stay in the not too distant future.
