Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United Kingdomonly thing is it’s far from general luna if you wanna go out on a night time, plus the road up to the hostel is a bit rough
Immaculate vibes, amazing facilities, pool, comfy beds and nice social area, lots of social activities so easy to meet other people as a solo backpacker! Saturday’s family dinner and dj was sooo nice, and good location for cloud 9 if you want to surf, shoutout to Skye & Camille for making my stay so memorable ♡

United KingdomThe snoring of others..... but this doesn't count as it is not the hostel fault. So technically nothing I dislike about this hostel!
Everything! People, staff, facility, and location. Everyone is so friendly, they treat you like a friend and family rather just a profession. The facility is also good, has everything you need and always clean, the staff look after it very well! The location is great, not far from laundry. Even getting into the town isn't that far, and it is in a quiet area.

PhilippinesNot really Hiraya’s fault, but the road leading to the hostel needs improvement. Other than this, nothing negative to say about this place.
The staff is the gem of Hiraya. Super helpful and always willing to assist and provide recommendations to make your stay and visit worthwhile.

United KingdomThe shower was terrible every time I used it. I could barely wash the pressure was so bad. The sink area also smelled Abit but they had incense burning to cover the smell.
Staff were friendly and the pool was a nice touch. They helped us hire a bike for two days and book onto an island hopping tour. The beds were comfy and it didn't feel like you were in a 20 bed dorm. Everyone was respectful and quiet.

AustraliaThe showers were a little lack lustre. Better water pressure would be nice!
Great staff and great atmosphere for meeting other solo travellers! The staff were very helpful and organized daily surf lessons for me, and many of the other travellers were also there to surf so we all went together which was nice. Overall really lovely hostel experience!

NorwayStayed here for about 4 weeks in total and loved it (obviously)! The staff is the best, so welcoming, fun and friendly! They have a lot of activities and events but it’s still quiet at 9 if you want to sleep early. So far the most social place I’ve stayed! Even though it’s 18 people dorm and no curtains the rooms are spacious and it doesn’t feel that crowded. Also big lockers under the beds with space for all your stuff. Looking forward to being back one day!

SpainIf you get to sleep on the top bunk bed there is basically no privacy and no repair from the aircon which can be set on a very low temperature at night. Communication with the staff sometimes is a bit tricky but they always try to find a solution if you have a problem.
The Hostel itself is really great, the little cafe has a lot of choice, they are very conscious about the environment and the staff is very helpful if you want to join their activities, get advices on where to eat, rent a scooter, get surfing lessons and so on. I definetely recommend!

United KingdomNo curtains on beds, but the top bunk felt more private. No toilet paper but bring your own and it’s not a problem. Lack of hot water for showers. People getting up early and letting the dorm door slam (not the hostels fault as they do have signs saying to close the door quietly…)
This is my favourite hostel so far in a four month trip. The staff are AMAZING, so friendly and helpful. Don’t be put off by the dorm sizes, it felt less crowded than others with far less beds! The cafe has really good breakfast/lunch options for affordable prices. They do group dinners to local restaurants and dinner and party at the hostel once a week. You can walk to Cloud 9 but will need a scooter to get everywhere else. As a solo traveller Hiraya was perfect as everyone was super chill and welcoming :)

Austria8 months travelling around the world I haven’t seen a hostel like this. I was feeling at home from the first minute when I arrived at the Hiraya. The staff knows your name from the minute you check-in and they are very caring. No matter the request - they’ll find a solution. I just love how they are like a big chosen family and make you feel like you’re a part of it. I was a bit nervous about the 18 beds in one dorm but everybody in the hostel is very attentive - once the lights are off at 10PM, people would only tiptoe around with their flashlights on. Had the best sleep in those comfy beds. Also, the rooms and facilities were super clean. I’m gonna miss this place and its people big times!

SwitzerlandThe road to get to and from the hostel is a nightmare which is such a bummer considering how great the hostel as itself is.
The staff was super nice, the hostel has an area where you can do yoga, stretch or workout, even tho it’s a 18 bed dorm it doesn’t feel like it at all and there’s nice people staying there. Since it’s not a party hostel it’s quiet from 10pm at night which is nice.

GermanyHiraya hostel is the best I have stayed in so far. Everyone is super open, the vibe is very nice and it feels like a home away from home. The staff is super friendly and welcoming, they know the guests by name and really make sure you feel at home. Every Saturday a family dinner is organized which is super nice and also other tours like island hopping is offered. Truly loved it and kept extending my stay. Best hostel! United States of AmericaThere's only one road to the hostel and it branches off of the main road. There's rocks and puddles everywhere, making it kinda of an obstacle course each day to walk to/from. Even the tricycles/airport vans won't drive up the road nor rocky hill (where the hostel is located). You can drive your motorbike through it, just be careful. After 1 fall, I'd highly recommend parking it by the main road and just walk the rest of the way. But I ended up canceling my other hostel and extending my stay. That's how highly I'd reccomend Hiraya <3
An amazing stay dedicated for solo travelers like myself. The hostel really prioritizes having solo travelers, thus you make friends really quickly. The staff was super friendly and helped you with anything you needed form recs to helping you order take out. I was there for Christmas, and they threw two dinners and parties. It's not much of a party hostel, but you'll make friends and will want to go out partying every night!
