Like stepping back in time but with all the modern comforts set amongst beautiful pieces of historical Lisbon. Really was a treat to feel as if one was in a private home and each room wonderfully appointed with classic furniture, antique artwork and items from a past era?.

The only little „minus“ is that it’s a little clairaudient cause our sleeping room had a window to the entry hallway.

We had a problem with the heater but after a couple of days we were able to have an oil heater and all was good.

The experience was very nice. The staff were amazing. Breakfast was nice too. The location is easy to walk to many places.

Access a little tricky. OnlyTaxis allowed at the closer back entrance. Uber will take you to Taylor wine. Then go straight up the steps from there. Best bet— be in touch with helpful staff

The cruise ships that tie up across the street! We had a room with a balcony that allowed us to enjoy time watching river traffic. On our last morning, my wife looked out the window and asked "Who built that new apartment across the street?!" It was a cruise ship that arrived in the middle of the night and nearly completely blocked out view of the river. I'm not sure what anyone could do about that.

We were delighted with our room, which was spacious and had a balcony overlooking the Targus river. The breakfasts were out of this world, and the staff were wonderfully helpful. One of our bags was lost, and one of the staff was alert enough to correct the address I had given the airline. Another one of the staff booked out train tickets from Lisbon to Porto and not only secured us forward facing seats but got us the senior discount, which was half off! The hotel itself is wonderfully charming. It was a private home for a wealthy family. Our room had its own chapel just down the hall. (Actually, we were happy to share the chapel.)

I would have preferred staying on 2nd floor than third.

If you love old world style and character this is the place. Wonderful cook to order breakfast and coffee served on tablecloths with crystal and china. Warm friendly and very helpful staff.

Because of how this amazing historic hotel is built most of the suites have internal windows which do unfortunately allow noise and loud conversation from the lower entrance area to impact the peace of ones own suite particularly in the late evening.

Location, Ambiance , Suite sizes and especially Xavier who was just amazing so kind and professional.

Directions to get here need fine-tuning. Taxi had great difficulty finding it; just needs to say “pull up next to the Taylor Port wine tasting shop and walk up little cobble path, followed by 25 stairs taking you up to front door”.

A noisy, heavy (but not soundproof) bathroom door - an odd choice for otherwise well-refurbished rooms. Walls between guest rooms not at all soundproof. Shortly after making full payment we were told by the hotel that our stay was in carnival time and indeed a nightly, loud, large concert took place across the road from our room, with rock music after midnight. Thanks for telling us.

bathroom/ shower was being fixed. got there in the end but a couple of days with an unpleasant odor. a lot of stairs as well and difficult for taxi driver to find

the architecture, the service and the views.

nothing that I didn’t like - however it will be a problem for people with disabilities as there is a spiral staircase to the rooms and a very steep stone stairway up to the hotel after walking up a cobblestone hill. getting up there is a challenge with large luggage.

everything ! this is a home from 1909 that is absolutely charming and beautiful. I’m the middle of the old area with walking distance to the big square and very close to many fado places. the staff and breakfast were tremendous.

The front door was very difficult to find, google made it seem like it was on the busier street. We made some edits to the Google maps location to be up the stairs. The stay is well worth it!

It's absolutely incredible. We booked the king suite with access to three balconies! It was beautiful and gave us great sites to the old town. The staff also was helpful in booking taxis and events. Additionally, they were very welcoming of our 2x dogs traveling with us. Lastly, breakfast is a must-have! It was one of the top breakfasts in my life.
