We enjoyed our short stay with Jämteborg. Located on a very quiet street in the city center, an old but lovely building with its own spirit. However it's not a luxury hotel. Excellent stay for a 3 star hotel.

I booked the hotel for my husband and here is his experience. He was accommodated in a facility opposite the hotel. This was mentioned in booking and actually he liked it. The room was on the first floor and the facility offers a fully equipped kitchen for common use. He was offered a very good dinner with local food which was a nice surprise. The breakfast was very good. Last day he had to check out very early in the morning (5 am) and was provided with tasty sandwiches prepared and stored in the refrigerator. The staff was helpful and responsive. Another advantage of this hotel is the free parking. The location is excellent, just few minutes from the top center.

Old interior, no fridge in the room. The fact that it is dog friendly, but I could not bring my dog to the lobby or restaurant was a big disappointment. I have not experienced that before. Either it’s dog friendly or it is not.

Bathroom was a little basic - wetroom with a shower curtain. A chipped tile next to the plughole detracted from the feel. I've stayed in hotels with more modern/luxurious bathrooms. I suspect it had not been redecorated/refurbished as recently as the bedroom. A takeaway breakfast was provided but it was not the most generous: a small carton of orange juice, hardboiled egg. a yoghurt (but no spoon) and a small sandwich of seeded/fruit bread with cheese.

The wonderful welcoming staff elevated what might otherwise be an unremarkable hotel to a memorable one. While on the bus to Ostersund just before 8 pm, they phoned me to say that their dinner buffet finished at 8 and asked if I'd like them to put some food aside for me. I'd totally forgotten that a dinner buffet was included in my room rate. Other hotels might simply have said tough luck if I arrived after they stopped serving, but instead I was given dinner on arrival at 8.30. Not the finest meal I had in Sweden but still a nice touch. The lovely receptionist (whose English was flawless, and whose name I didn't catch) recommended a local beer to enjoy with dinner - the most reasonably priced beer I had in Sweden (though still expenive by UK standards). She showed me the fridge where my packed breakfast would be found in the morning (as I was leaving before they officially started serving breakfast). The William Morris wallpaper in the bar/restaurant area was a nice change from Scandi-minimalist design! Excellent location handy for both the bus and train stations in Ostersund.

Bizarre pricing policy. They suggested us a free upgrade of our room but then asked for 130 SK to pay as an extra due to some problems with the website??? We did not understand we were tired and we paid it was just a small sum but still...

The kettle doesn't seem to be very clean. There's some strange smell in the water boiled by it. The window is not very soundproof.

The reception shows great hospitality and the staff are very frendly. Also, the breakfast is very good. In general, the room is comfortable, although it looks a bit old.

The one and only issue is actually not specific to this hotel but rather virtually ALL hotels worldwide and we have stayed at many. The pillows are absolutely terrible, if at all possible bring your own with you.

Evening meal was a bonus. Location was very good for the city. Breakfast was very good for a "continental" style. Tea and coffee facilities were appreciated, not always common in Scandinavia. Staff went that extra mile to make for a pleasant stay.

Lovely and welcoming conveniently located hotel. Tastefully decorated in cosy folk style. Our spacious and comfortable Nordic blue bedroom was very stylish. Really nice and helpful staff, friendly atmosphere . Would highly recommend it.
