Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

SwedenAs a passionate medieval historian, I really liked the medieval decorum and the calming atmosphere that surrounded the hotel. The staff was very nice and professional and the breakfast was exceptional. It was an excellent experience, and I would definitely return!

SwedenThe only, tiny thing I missed a bit was a bit more fruit to add to the Müsli for example.
Breakfast with some homemade bread was very nice and served until 10:30. Given it was pre-season with limited opening times of restaurants and cafés across town and the island, the hotel also offered a lunch package for those interested. While there was no kettle in the room, the open tea and coffee area downstairs was available all day with tea from the local tea shop and homebaked cookies.

ItalyEverything went perfect!
Ulrika and Tobias are amazing hosts: kind, discrete, available and friendly! The room's design and forniture was amazing and they care a lot about using local and homemade products for breakfast (bread, jams, granola, etc.) and in the room's equipment (soap and blankets crafted in Gotland). The night check-in instructions were very clear. After the check-out they kept my luggage for some hours and they were kind enough to call a taxi for me, letting me stay in a really cozy living room to wait for it. The hotel is located in the old town, close to the main attractions and facilities and very easy to reach by foot.

The experience by Hotel Helgeand Wisby was comfortable and over expected. Ulrike and Tobias are very thoughtful for supporting to book the taxi proactively when the guest arriving on the late night. The room is well-designed in the context of the unique story from the middle ages. The facilities are good. The breakfast is well prepared for the energized morning. I would like to highly recommend the hotel as the first choice when landing in the Visby town.

SwedenOur bathroom was very tiny and water could spread easily over the whole floor after shower. It wasn't a big issue for us anyway.
The hotel is so charming with a lot of history (from 1250!) and characters. It's just 3 mins walk away from Stortorget and walking distance to basically everything in Visby. The owners have shown such dedication to details, from the lounge to the rooms. Breakfast was great!

SwedenIt is a bit pricey for the value they offer. The room was quite basic and small, and it would be nice to have slippers and a bath robe at least. The bathroom was super small, ok for me but could be inconvenient for someone very tall or with broad shoulders. The breakfast was nice, enough if you stay for 2-3 days, but if you stay for a week it could become boring. Some more healthy protein sources would be nice, e.g., salmon, kvark or omelette.
Location is perfect, in the city centre and close to everything. The hotel is in the 13th century building with old walls and some interior from the past, creates quite a nice atmosphere and adds up to the feeling in being in an ancient town. The staff was extremely nice and friendly, and they offered breakfast in the garden, perfect if the weather is good.

United States of AmericaNothing to complain about.
An amazing, refurbished medival environment in a 13th century building. The room was not big, but we very much liked what we got, and the large bed was very comfortable. The location is ideal for those enjoying to walk about on the narrow and quiet cobble stone streets of the old city. The staff was very friendly and accomodating.

SwedenThe room felt slightly cramped. The bathroom was a wetroom (shower with plastic curtain), which is, however, common in Sweden. The breakfast was nice (good coffee!) but a bit frugal and basic (some cake option, etc. would have been nice).
The location was fantastic, very central, almost next to the cathedral and attached to a medieval compound. Beautiful historic hotel building dating to the 13th century. Clean rooms and comfortable beds.

CanadaWhile I appreciate that this is a very old, original period structure, we found our room and bathroom to be extremely cramped for space! Perhaps more suited for a solo traveller… We made the best of it, but that aspect was disappointing.
The property and medieval structure were lovely, subtly and tastefully appointed, the location was sublime and the staff was friendly and obliging at all times.

United States of AmericaThe room was a little small. There was not a cleaning service each night which would have been nice. Everything else was great!

BrazilThe first day we didn't put the "Please clean the room" sign on the door, so they didn't make up the room. I had no idea we had to do that.
Breakfast was delicious! Location was great, right in the middle of the old town. Staff were friendly and helpful. Room was spacious. The hotel was in a restored house from the 12th century, so very charming and beautiful. The town is beautiful and a great place to explore and from where to take day trips to visit the rest of the island.
