-Mosquitos! They are everywhere in northern Sweden during the summer, so we knew and had a spray with us. Make sure you do too. -Tre (3) does not have a signal there —or as I found out, in most places in Lapland. On the plus side, it gave a me good excuse to avoid emailing.

Myrkulla Lodge is in Swedish Lapland, conveniently located between the two 'major' cities of Arjeplog and Arvidsjaur. Landmarks of the region, like the Storforsen waterfall and Arjeplog's silver road and museums, are all within driving distance. If you don't drive, Myrkulla offers exhibitions and tours, or you can simply enjoy the local hiking paths (there are plenty) and nature. In fact, even sitting outside your cabin you feel at nature—almost like camping—as there are trees all around and lakes that you can swim or fish in (a small boat is provided for free!). For wildlife photographers and other animal lovers: there are reindeer and small birds everywhere! I really enjoy staying at the little cabin we had. It had a good space from any neightbours, a fire pit outside (firewood was provided for free). The cabin was very clean and cozy. I bet it is even better in the winter when the indoor fire stove is in use. Unlike other camping—and glamping—cabins, linens are included. Finally, there is the owner, Michael. He is great at making you feel welcome and comfortable without intervening in your activities. Note, we stayed in the summer. I bet, like any other place in northern Sweden, revisiting in the winter will be a different experience —I noticed the snowmobiles parked outside already (;-)). In fact, I hope to find time and revisit as I bet aurora sighting and snow sports are worth a second visit.

A small hut in a very remote location served as a base for three men on a fishing trip.

Indoors: difficult to access upper bunk bed because had no ladder (the owner said there should be one but we could not find any). No reading light on the upper bed. Kitchen missing a coffee maker. No lids for the pots nor for the frying pan. Outdoors: garbage bins not available. The view partially blocked by overgrown bushes.

Small but clean hut, comfortable beds, clean and new mattress and pillows. Well working shower and toilet. Hot water available for shower.
