We liked everything. It's a wonderful place with excellent homemade food based on truffle dishes. The truffle shop is also great. It is close to the Slovenian seaside towns, but far enough in the hills for peace and quiet.

We had to walk through the restaurant patio seating to get to the stairs of our apartment. There were many bugs in our apartment. Several of us were bitten badly by mosquitos while on the grounds, so be aware of that. The door to the bathroom stuck, and startled us every time it was opened. Living room was dark with small windows. The main issue we had was the lack of privacy in the large bedroom with the great view. There are big windows on every wall, INCLUDING interior walls. The window treatments are completely insufficient and offer little to no privacy or light filtering. With the curtains “fully” closed, someone in the living room and still see everything in that bedroom because of the thin curtains. Beds were not comfortable and had thin mattresses. TV wasn’t great and streaming services struggled to load.

We (two couples) stayed in the Royal Suite, which is a three bedroom one bath apartment on the top floor of the building next to the restaurant. Our apartment was well decorated and had plenty of space. The bathroom was spacious and had great water pressure. The view is incredible. AC worked great. The restaurant is superb and we ate there three times. We didn’t find that the restaurant noise bothered us at night. Amazing breakfast spread. Staff were always very pleasant. Wi-Fi on our phones worked well.

Nothing.

The breakfast was plentiful and delicious, and the staff were very warm and welcoming. Check-in was smooth and simple. The location is a beautiful place to wake up in the Slovenian countryside, and simple to drive to Piran in 20 minutes. If we could have stayed longer we would have been excited to take advantage of some of the activities the restaurant offer.

Great location, not my first time here so we knew where to go. We didnt get to try out the restaurant but heard amazing things about it. The breakfast was so good, coffee from an actual machine so it was super tasty, everyone was very accommodating! Room was spacious and clean with comfy beds. Thanks and see you soon

The only slightly disappointing thing was that they don’t read messages sent via the Booking.com app - as they get so many but it did mean that our attempt to try and book a truffle hunting trip in advance , was unsuccessful. Suggest you contact them direct to avoid same fate

We loved everything about the Residence Gold Istra - the staff were so welcoming and could not have been more helpful and friendly . The room was clean and comfortable. The location in the hills was lovely. It is a pension and exactly that- nothing fancy but it does what it promises, excellently. The restaurant was stunning- we love truffles and wow, it did not disappoint. Superb food and great value (we are used to very high prices for truffles in the UK .) We ate there every night of our stay - ( note - It is only only open Friday, Saturday and Sunday) . The Gold Istra also has a fabulous truffle room and sellsthe most wonderful truffle products- again at excellent prices . We shall definitely be back.

One of the best place I have ever been and absolutely the best during our 2 week trip. We stayed there for 3 days, but would like to stay much longer, because it was fantastic. Food is outstanding !!! Personel is so great, that after first day you can feel like with friends :) Amazing view form the garden/chill zone on the back of the building - you just have to see it! :) The best place to just relax, chill, eat great food etc. We are sure we will go back there for more days.

The residence is located in a great place with fantastic views, it is peaceful there, trees, bushes and flowers around are very beautiful, the staff is kind and friendly. The room exceeded our expectations, was very clean and provance stylish. Excellent pillows and blankets.

It was quiet in the morning, so you could enjoy the breakfast and the fields of lavender. The dinner in the restaurant was also superb, with more normal pricing than most places in Ljubljana or Portorož.

Truffles. :D Obviously it is not the residence's fault but it was not for our taste at all, even the smell of it is is weird. But hey we are not used to this flavour. Probably other guests find it delicious.

The view is breathtaking! I have gluten intolerance and for both breakfast and dinner the personnel took care of me. Enej and also the morning girl (I dont know her name Im sorry) were really amazing, helpful! Too bad it was only for 2 nights. Holiday never takes long unfortunately. Wish we could stay at least 2 more nights. Definitely recommended!
