Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SingaporeThey don't have breakfast, but I don't think it's a big deal because they're so close to everything and food is easily delivered to the hostel.
I really wish I could not give a good review so that I can keep this place to myself and not have to share it with others. But it would be doing Kars & team a complete disservice by not promoting his place. The coffee here is on point, the rooms are gorgeous, very antique, the aesthetic is beautiful and the place is quiet. How do I rate this any higher.

BelgiumI couldn't fill the bathtub. I would have loved to soak a bit after a day in the Bangkok heat. Also, while this didn't bother me personally, there didn't seem to be an elevator. The highest room is on the fourth floor, so I can imagine this could be a negative for some people. I do have to add that while I was checking in, they did spontaneously take my bags to my room.
Charming hostel and cafe in the alleys near Chinatown. It blends a classic and a modern industrial look quite well. I like that it reflects the owner's passion, photography. It gives it a personal touch. The room was great. A good bed, well decorated and spacious. Being within a few minutes walk from both the metro (Hua Lampong - Blue Line) and River Boats (Marine Department - Orange flag) makes it very well connected. The staff was friendly and helpful. I was asked spontaniously if I needed anything for my room. I didn't, but it's nice to be asked anyway. Even the owner seemed like a great guy, despite being Dutch! (Please do not take this seriously, this is just some friendly Netherlands-Belgium rivalry). Seriously though, he was ready to answer any question I had with a smile, and I really appreciate it.

PolandI have stayed in Photohostel with my family (kids 4 and 7 years old) and we loved our stay there. We had a room with 2 bunk beds and a private bathroom. The room is spacious and very clean. The place has a beautiful interior.. When we arrived we were greeted by the very nice owner who showed us the place, the room and how to get to the nearby attractions. The Chinese night market is within a 10 min walk.

MalaysiaIt was hard for grab driver to find the location but Kars was super nice owner told us to pin the location to or from Thai Sathit Condominium (you have to use the back door of Photohostel) if you wanted to go somewhere else by grab. About 10 mins walk to Chinatown. If you like to walk at night (the road is quite lonely) but once you reach Chinatown, it comes alive! There was no lift. Only staircase. Not suitable for senior citizens unless they are healthy and active persons so the staircase is not a big problem.
Very unique hotel. I hope in the future, TV will be provided in a room.

United StatesMotor oil smell from the car parts alley, no elevator, maze like alley that can be daunting for foreigners. I highly recommend to check in during day light hours. Localscan point you in the right direction.
The place is really as quirky and exotic as it looks on the picture. The place is clean and bed comfortable. In the morning, you will wake up to bird songs. Owner is a very nice man who personally took me to the taxi pick up and carried my luggage.
