Beautifully restored hotel, but had negative interactions with Staff.

The staff made an error during check-in and assigned us to the wrong room. There were no problems until our last night when we discovered staff had entered our room without our knowledge or permission to, “check if someone who shouldn’t be there is staying there.” Our contact information was on file at the front desk, and instead of waiting for us to return to rectify the issue, staff entered our room and looked around while our belongings were not put away because we had our “Do Not Disturb” sign posted and assumed that would be honored. When we returned, they incessantly implied that we asked for/switched to a different room upon check-in. Then staff came up to our room again, asking if we had been in the room our whole stay or had just switched rooms. My husband went downstairs to investigate the issue further to which they asked again if we switched rooms - which was when we found out they went into our room while we were gone, leading us to believe they were never going to inform us of this fact. What was once a lovely trip is now soured by this invasion of privacy, something I believe is valuable to the establishment as well as the staff’s inability to accept THEY had made the mistake. Furthermore upon checkout, our car did not have space on the street to load our belongings so we asked for display signs to be moved to the sidewalk to utilize the Hotel’s “Loading/Unloading Zone” where our vehicle was approached multiple times by the Owner and Staff to say I couldn’t park there to which I repeated multiple times that I was not parking and in fact, loading luggage in the designated zone. Staff continued to rush my husband and I out of their hotel despite the fact that my husband has a visible, physical disability that requires walking assistance with a cane. It’s a shame to have missed a private tour with the Owner of the establishment but we will not be returning. Thank you.

The hotel is decorated nicely, theme of the rooms are cute.

The room keypad was temperamental. Sometimes it wouldn’t react to touch. I was on the second floor, so I didn’t use the elevator (even though I was recovering from a knee injury). The elevator, however, is very slow. The reception vibe is closer to a hostel than to a boutique hotel.

The size of the room. It is the biggest hotel room I’ve stayed in while visiting NYC. It was very comfortable and quiet despite being in a busy area. The location is great, too. Close to subway, cultural venues and lots of dining options.

The price I was quoted by booking.com was 908 and that said that 14% would be added to that however, my total bill was over 1200 I also and this is not the hotels fault I’m so over the lower Eastside. It’s dirty and there are people out there drinking all night long. You should know this if you are a tourist if you’ve never been before it’s probably fun to see if you know the lower Eastside and returning to your former home my impression is that it got rougher more graffiti more clothes, businesses. All the yoga studios in the neighborhood have closed and all the fun things are gone. Many many stores are listed on Google, but have closed in the pandemic and not been updated.

Great hotel and you get a kitchen with a hot plate and fridge! This truly is a huge room for New York hotel room standards. The floor to ceiling cost for a patio was great because it allowed me to see out very high-quality fixtures. Very very quiet. If I could afford it, I would stay here again.

Check-in at 4pm and check-out at 11am?? We arrived early due to flight changes all the way from Australia to be told that even though our room is ready we'd have to pay an extra $100 for the privilege (already spent $500 for one night). Fine, house rules. Even suggested that we'd have to pay to leave our bags on premises till check-in (but did us "favour" and didn't charge us). We then left and came back at 3.30pm to the front desk staff member acting like he was doing us another "favour" by letting us in "early". Not sure if the front desk staff member owns the hotel but if he doesn't then maybe consider putting someone more considerate to receive your paying guests.

Location was excellent and the penthouse room had excellent views. Bed was comfy and TV was large.

One staff member was a bit out of the loop on a few things. Room heat controlled by a master device which was a bit confusing for him but together we figured it out. He was helpful in scheduling our airport pick up.

The atmosphere was great. Staff were very hospitable and knowledgeable. I felt very safe and comfortable in both the hotel and the neighborhood. There was someone in the hotel 24 hours a day.

No safe in room. Even though we were top floor (6th) and ex-NY’ers (aka used to street noise)…. the street noise was quite loud. And it’s right over a club that has thumping bass and tunes til 3-4am. They do leave earplugs in rooms for you, but it was tough to fall/stay asleep.

Adorable unique boutique hotel. Charming staff. Huge, fabulous room.

The place wasn't very clean, we had to rewash all of the dishes and the towels weren't very clean as well. Also, room service didn't show up to our room once during the entire stay (8 nights).

The hotel manager was very nice and was there nearly at all times, the bed was huge and very comfortable and the location was amazing.

Room smelled like cigarettes. I was ok top floor but you could hear the streets, they don’t have the noise canceling windows. Cleanliness was an issue, was super gross. My clothes stink after this stay.

The arrival was friendly and helpful enough, especially regarding our pile of luggage, but upon coming back from our excursion at midnight, we were quite disappointed. The room smelled strongly of old tobacco smoke, and airing with open windows throughout the night did not actually help. The carpet was dirty, and when opening the sofa bed for sleep, there was hair items and dirt strewn around. And we didn’t find any linen, so I had to go down to the reception to get it. The bathroom was not entirely clean either, although it was livable. In short we found that we would not have a nice stay there for the rest of the week. We feel that the advertised luxury branding of the place was not appropriate, as was not the price compared to other accommodation that we have visited in New York. For the same price we are now in a 4-star hotel in a much bigger family suite with two rooms and two bathrooms in the Meetpacking district. Sincerely, Øystein Sonstad

Beliggenheten var sikkert fin, men vi nådde aldri å teste den, da vi umiddelbart checket ut etter å ha sovet natten over. Se under om mer.

The vibe was akin to some unsettling road side attraction. Not historic as much as kind of creepy. Eerily empty. Over the top greeting at check in was odd. Elevator groaned and creeped in concerning fashion. The mattress was of very poor quality. Large room but poorly laid out. And over $300 a night.

Good location on the lower east side. The room was spacious.

I could not point at one good thing about it except the location was ok

They scammed us: we booked a Black Friday deal and ended up paying $2.300 for three nights on low season (Tuesday to Thursday on early December). We asked to cancel it but they did not allows us to do it even take one night and cancel the other two. They didn’t tell us how to open the door. There was no one to help us with our luggage (we had 5 suitcases). Our kid was crying and they wouldn’t help he open the door to our room. There was no food or even water in the room, not even to purchase. We have traveled all over the world and this has been the worst hotel we have ever stayed at. It completely ruined our vacation that we work so hard for and we were completely scammed. This was a night mare and I wish I had never had made my family go through this during our vacation. The floor and bathrooms were dirty and there were missing lightbulbs oj most of the lights: I mean at this point I could just mention every single detail that makes this hotel the worst experience of our life
