Excellent East Village location with a trendy vibe

The room was very, very small. We got the deluxe king room and you could barely walk around the bed. The lighting in the bathroom was so dim I had to get my phone flashlight and my tiny little mirror I brought (they provide no other mirrors to use) to get any makeup after sun went down and used daylight in the morning.

The location is right in the middle of the East Village area so if that is where you want to be, this will accomplish that beautifully. The restaurants are really good too especially where they do brunch. The bed was very comfortable with really nice bedding, everything was very clean and facilities worked as expected with nice soap, shampoo, lotion, etc. The staff was professional and friendly in the lobby.

The perk of day passes to Crunch gym across Cooper Square is a bonus, but that location of Crunch is poorly maintained and stuffy. I recommend walking the neighborhood for a better workout.

This hotel still has it's shine after many years in the game. I hadn't stayed here in 12 years, and though the restaurants and public spaces are quite different, there is still something effortless about the property. We lucked out with a room on the 19th floor: the best views in this part of the city - a sweeping panorama from the UN to financial district, including the Brooklyn waterfront and all three downtown bridges. Close access to many excellent neighborhood restaurants and shops is also an advantage.

No in room on-demand movie options. Also, housekeeping began knocking at 8am and this happened twice more after being told we weren’t checking out until 11.

Very clean, modern room. Hip vibe. Lovely cafe/ bar on the ground floor and serene glass office/ lounge area (small but nice) on second floor overlooking beautiful courtyard. Area is adjacent to SoHo and Nolita with great restaurants and shops.

The room had an awesome view of city building that was obstructed by a hug tv right in the middle of the window. There was a sewage smell that came from the bathroom, that we just chalked up to being a NY thing.

The Standard is centrally located with plenty of food options and dispensaries in walking distance. This was a birthday trip for my girlfriend and Nia who works there, was super helpful with offering ammenities to make our stay special.

My only wish for change would be a better possibility to work in The Perch. The table is knee-high with the seating and a real back killer if working with a laptop or paperwork. It's a lovely space, not overly frequented, and would be a particularly lovely work space if the furniture were a little more suitable.

The view from the 20th floor - even whilst showering! - was breathtaking. An absolute highlight at all times of day. Everything was extremely clean, and the staff couldn't have been more helpful and friendly.

Loud… a/c or rain?? Could use an outlet on bothsides of the bed… as most gadgets/watches need recharging overnight.

Good use of space, convenient location, artsy. Love that there was unlimited bottled water… in glass bottles/not plastic!

We specifically asked for a noise free apartment, away from the elevators, ice machines, loud music etc. What we did not expect was the loud noise from the bathroom exhaust. The maintenance staff came to check and told us that during night time, if the sensor was working properly, the noise would automatically go off. The maintenance guy was very nice. But, apparently he was not able to fix it and even suggested the reception would trade our room. We couldn’t sleep at all for the first two nights, but after 8 night stays, we kind of dealt with it by using ear plugs. We did get a call from the reception mid week asking about the noise. In the end, the hotel did not charge one of the taxes, but we wish we could have gotten a larger discount for such inconvenience.

Nice decoration and good location. Walking distance to many nice restaurants and stores.
