Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

GermanyJust minor things: The sometimes noisy fridge and hallway light shining through the door frame. Overall it was a nice property!
Absolutely charming old brick house. Vintage interior and an awesome host!

United KingdomIt might not be for everyone. It's more like a home than a hotel and that should be respected. Hopefully I did!
One of the best places I've ever stayed from start to finish. The welcome from Kellyn is genuine, heartfelt, informative, and full of passion for New York; the rooms are huge and decorated to fine detail, the bed was comfortable, the bathroom well appointed and the TV huge & with all the channels (not that I used it much!); the location is excellent - direct connections to JFK & La Guardia, two stops from Times Sq and 3 from Penn Stn - and the immediate area is both quiet and close to great bars, the gorgeous Morningside Park and the history and culture of both Harlem & Columbia University. I also wasn't expecting a free laundry service and to be woken by birdsong rather than traffic noise! I cannot overstate how much I loved staying here.

United States of AmericaThere weren’t any dislikes.
The property was beautiful and in walking distance of everything we planned to do. The owner so was knowledgeable about the area, she was very responsive, and genuinely cared about our stay and safety.

United KingdomHonestly, nothing!
Lovely historic building with original features. Huge room with massive comfy bed. The host was friendly and offered great tips for the city. The laundry service and little kitchen were a bonus. Don’t worry about breakfast- the little deli on the corner does a mean and cheap breakfast roll and Mr Lee Lee’s bakery lives up to its reputation! We loved the location near Central Park and felt safe in the neighbourhood.

NetherlandsAlthough the building is generally very clean and neat, it is somewhat worn here and there (since it's an old building). I understand that a full renovation is impossibly costly and ambitious, but a few upgrades might be nice. Nevertheless, these were only details. The bed was intensely soft - it was comfortable, but, as someone used to a hard mattress, I had some back pains towards the end of the stay. Good to keep in mind, I guess, for those who can't handle a soft mattress.
Great accommodation. Wonderful location in Harlem, and conveniently close to the subway, which is just around the corner - from there, central park is a few minutes away. Nice atmospheric interior, and big room. Facilities were great - there's a useful small kitchen, and a great bathroom. Room was cleaned/bedsheets were replaced frequently, which was nice. Instructions regarding the keys, entering/leaving, and checking out were clear and easy. Very comfortable stay!

The hotel was situated in a typical Westside Manhattan building and the room was unique with an amazing kind of antique decor. The room was super clean and the bathroom was equipped with a bathtub and above all very spacious. The hotel is ideally located only 5mn walking distance from the metro station and it only takes 2 stops and 15 mn on the A-line to Times Square, and less than 20 mn to Penn Station. The area, a few blocks from Columbia university, is very safe and the streets are calm during the night. I would definitely recommend staying in Harlem Grand if you're visiting the city.

United States of AmericaIt didn't really bother me, but others would be aware of the narrow stairs you take to get up to your room.
I love the classic feel of the home. It has so much character. It was also close to the subway and local food stores. The bed was very comfortable and it was great having a little kitchenette to use. They refreshed the room every other day and even offered to do one load of laundry.

United KingdomThe walls are thin, not a deal breaker, just that you feel like you have to be very quiet - which at times was actually a bonus
The room was very lovely as was the host, the space felt more like our own little apartment than a hotel.

United States of AmericaThere is no one on site most of the time. You have to plan carefully for arrival and departure. This is more like an AirBnB than typical Booking sites.
The brownstone in Harlem is a convenient walk to neighborhood spots and close to Morningside Park. It also has easy access to express and local trains from St. Nicolas station. This location is comfortable and quiet with easy access to Harlem, Manhattanville, and nearby Columbia University (if you enjoy a short walk with stairs). The owner is helpful in giving an overview of the house, neighborhood, transportation, and providing clear instructions. She generally responds within 24 hours.

United KingdomAlthough not too far out as easy subway access, the area wasn’t the best and I wouldn’t venture out at night. Not a tourist area so expected.
The welcome was lovely and the host explained all the facilities and the area. The bed was super comfy and facilities good for a few nights, including use of a joint refrigerator, kettle, kitchenette etc. A really quiet street with no noise which is hard to find in NY! Real close to the subway station to get everywhere in minutes. Unique place, it felt like staying at home not at a hotel!
