To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

SwitzerlandWalls not that well isolated, you could hear your neighbors quite well… Value for money is not great but I guess it’s normal for NYC during December. House keeping could have been better, they forgot to refill toilet paper for 2 days.
The rooms are nice and modern, quite spacious for NYC. We even had water views. Also close to subway stations. Comfortable bed.

United States of AmericaFloor above flooded and woke building up with alarm. Then I was woken up the next day to the sound of construction trucks. I was on the 17th floor so as you can imagine they were extremely loud to make it up that high. Also the shower pressure was absolutely awful I could barely rinse the soap off my body.
Friendly staff, nice view, clean, coffee maker and fridge and microwave were great to have.

CanadaThe only issue was the hot water for the shower was hit or miss and took 15 mins to warm up. Also cheap water bottles for the room were not free. At the price you pay, you’d think the 10cents bottles they have would be free. Anyways, NYC is expensive and this was I guess what you pay for.
