Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

New ZealandVery noisy area, so if you're looking for peace and quiet after a long day, you might need to try somewhere else. Wifi is like you've stepped back into the 90's and using dial up so don't expect to be relaxing watching Netflix. Communication with staff is a little hard due to language barriers, but reasonably pleasant. Again, you get what you pay for. Cheap location over everything else pretty much.
Location was perfect for its easy access to everything. Close and easy access to the subway and getting to the airport. Cheap for it's location, you do get what you pay for though, so if you're ok with no frills then it's ok.

CanadaA strong displeasing smell of detergent or something near the reception desk. Staff provides services when you ask, but they never show any warmth or politeness. The weirdest hotel I have ever stayed. Not sure why Booking.com shows it as a 3-star hotel. Definitely, it is not.
The location is good, close to the Penn Station and within walking distance to the Times Square. The room is very small, but the cleanliness is ok.

AustraliaI have to preface any negatives with the fact that this property is upfront about many of the shortcomings it cannot easily control. There is no lift, so be ready to lug your bags up several flights of stairs. Street noise is loud and constant, as is the noise of other guests coming and going with an internal door to the stairwell opening and slamming closed very loudly. My room was tiny, and it was difficult to move around the bed and even open the door as my luggage had to go on the floor, which left not much space to actually function. Rearranging the bed so it's against the wall/window might improve the space, and this might also mean power points are by the bedside table so things like phone charging doesn't have to take place on the floor. The WiFi did not work consistently.
The location is the main positive of this property, within walking distance to Penn Station and the Highline, and even Times Square/Broadway if you have good walking shoes. Easy access to the subway allows much wider travel around the city and to/from airports. The room was small but just adequate for one, and reasonably clean.

United KingdomVery, very noisy, the windows are not well insulated so traffic noise could be heard loudly throughout the whole night (traffic, honking horns, people shouting, loud music) etc. Hotel provides ear plugs which may help some people. Also, the facilities are very scruffy & dated, but at least they are cleaned which is most important. Also, it is located above a Cannabis bar, so you can smell weed smoke in through the windows during the night.
Bed was comfortable. Room had been cleaned. Great location on Manhattan Island, a few minutes walk from Metro station. Very low price compared to any other hotel in the area, so it's a good budget option.

United States of AmericaMostly staff related issues, and general design of the place. Most notably, my international flight arrived late to JFK. I called the hotel MULTIPLE times to let them know I might arrive after 11:00pm, which is when they close check-in. Nobody ever answered. Luckily I arrived at 10:58pm, to find a bored person sitting at the front desk, and someone else in an adjoining office, talking on their cell phone. Yet nobody ever answered my call. While checking in, the guy confirmed that indeed, the desk would have been closed in a couple minutes, and I might not have been able to check in. Which obviously really would have sucked. Especially since the room had already been charged to my card, and was non-refundable. Secondly, the system for getting back in through the doors was a bit strange, and wasn't explained very well. You're supposed to put your hand on a thing, which then shows a number pad, that you then type a number into. After you do it once it's straightforward--but not when you first try, not knowing what to expect. I wasn't sure exactly where I was supposed to put my hand at first, and then even when I did put my hand on the correct spot, it didn't do anything. Turned out it required FULL contact with my palm, not fingers. And then I kept typing in the number, but it didn't do anything. A staff girl was standing on the other side of the glass watching me the whole time, acting annoyed, rather than just opening the door for me. She saw that I clearly had my check-in card in my hand. After a while, she finally opened the door door in a huff, and said I probably wasn't typing the asterisk symbol after the number--which was true, and straightforward after I saw it. But was confusing in the hub-hub of the moment. Especially at 1:00am, jet-lagged from international travel. Not nice to be treated that way. One last kind of wierd thing is the that the bathroom sink was out in the room, at just above knee height.
Location was excellent. And price was the cheapest hotel in in Midtown.

United KingdomThere was no lift, so had to carry bags up 3 flights of stairs with no offer for assistance. The room was very small, there was very very little space for 2 people and suitcases. The room wasn’t the cleanest, it wasn’t dirty but definitely could’ve been better. Window sills were dusty and the shower was a bit yellow. The bed was clean though. The staff were almost nonexistent, and the few times we crossed paths they were very quiet/blunt. The noise from the street below wasn’t too bad as they offered ear plugs. However, the air con was directly next to the head of the bed, at the same level as our heads, so it was really really loud to sleep next to and too hot not to have it on. The general area outside the hotel can be a little rough. Not somewhere I would like to walk around alone at night time. The hotel is directly above a weed dispensary, so the aircon just pumped the smell of weed into our room.
The location of this property was great. It is directly outside Maddison square garden, so great transport connections. We had a lovely view overlooking MSG. 4 pillows on the bed! love not having to ask for more.

United States of AmericaThe room had a strong perfume smell that irritated my asthma and sleeping. The bed was also in poor condition and had sunken in parts from usage that hurt my back. The A/C unit in the window was nice as it kept the room cool, but it let in so much dust and noise that my asthma was even worse and sleeping was difficult. Additionally, if the curtains were closed then the cool air would not go into the room and it would get warm and stuffy. The price definitely did not justify the room, but it was convenient and a last minute booking. There was also NO mention of it only be stairs accessible which was terrible for my knees to go back and forth with and without luggage.
I liked the location. I needed quick and frequent access to Penn Station, so it was really nice to just walk around the block. The size was more compact than I expected, but it was perfect for one person. I could not imagine two people staying in that room.
