Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

NetherlandsMy reserved room was way below my expectations. very small, had no sofa, the bed had stain on the side. I had to go back to the front desk and pay for an upgrade room!! no one answers the phone where I had to go down every time I needed something. no restaurant so you would rely on eating outside all the time. The staff were kind of formal with us hardly you see a smile on their faces (except for the Concierge/Bellman guys).
I guess the only thing i liked was location. thats it.

SwitzerlandI picked a more expensive room because I wanted to have a better view. The many rooms listed did not correspond to the actual view you are going to get. I requested a room with a better view, since my original one had a really poor view. Another issue was that the guest service phone line didn't pick up, I had to go back to the lobby.
The staff was very welcoming and were able to address all my requests. They also gave me some really good advice on how to go around the city. The view, if you are lucky to get the right room, is really nice.

New ZealandAs hotel policy, I was asked to pay $100/day for a deposit, which was meant to be returned within a few days of check out. None of the money was returned. I have contacted the hotel multiple times through booking.com and through their website. Got replies through the app that showed they didn't really read the messages. The final message had more assistance, but the issue still hasn't been resolved after 3 months. I have messaged through the website twice but no one replies, I only get an automated response that it was received. The stay was fine, but the assistance is lacking.

PortugalThe breakfast is delivered in the room, mac-Donald's style. It doesn't worth it. After a couple of day we stopped ordering it. The hotel is a bit old and the lift are under constant maintenance. Be very careful, the hotel take a pre-authorisation on your credit card and over charge you once you left. I am trying to get a reimbursement of the 546 Dollars they over-charged me. I asked specifically at check out the invoice, and these extra fees are not shown. This is not the first time, Google Map comments are full of these issues for this hotel.
The location is very nice, close to the metro, we had a room in a high floor with a very nice view.

United KingdomRooms are not as advertised - they are very tired internally with dirty/ marked carpets, damaged furniture, damaged walls and TV’s that do not work. The bathroom shower mixer kicked out black debris into the bath when one was run so needless to say, we only showered. Although there are three passenger lifts only two were working and on the second to last day, another one broke down - the hotel claimed it was due to maintenance however it was clearly not working due to an issue with it. We were forced to use a freight elevator as the queues were ridiculous. We were charged for additional items on top of the upgrades we agreed to and we were told conflicting information about check outs and back storage. Not overly impressed.
Excellent location in lower manhattan - the view from the 44th floor was stunning. The cleaning staff were great and worked very hard - credit where credit is due they kept the place going.

MoroccoAbsence of a small fridge. The furniture looks outdated. The amount of the deposit is high ($600) which is refunded according to the hotel within 7 to 20 days after the check-out.
I spent 6 nights at the Millennium Downtown New York (deluxe double room with two double beds) in late April. The room facilities met our needs. the room was clean with a nice view of the church street. Breakfast was included in the total price ($45 per person) and we really enjoyed it. The staff was very kind and helpful. We really enjoy the location and the stay.
