Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

RomaniaWe had booked a quadruple room. The room itself was quite small and packed with not very much space to move around. It was also poorly lit. The lack of lights in the room and in the dressing was noticeable. Moreover, the services and the amenities were very disappointing for a 4-star hotel - not enough towel hangers in the bathroom, no fridge/minibar, no slippers, no bathrobe, no bedside table, almost nothing around apart from the beds. Even the charging sockets were way too few in our room As many people already mentioned they are currently upgrading their elevators. So they have like 2 elevators currently in use which is indeed a burden. I think for the time being they shouldn’t let people in the rooms located at the top floors so that they can use the stairs. Our room was on the 4th floor and we used the stairs pretty often even though sometimes an elevator would have been more convenient. I guess this hotel is a pretty decent option, though pricey, given its location in NYC
The rooms were clean and the location of the hotel is very convenient - close to Times Square, Central Park and Subway stations.

GermanyOnly one elevator was working, the others were being serviced. This was a major nuisance as there were queues most times of the day.
The breakfast could be bought at a little shop inside the hotel lobby and consumed in the lounge. Very good quality coffee and rolls, sandwiches etc. Staff was super friendly and helpful!

United KingdomThe photos led us to believe the rooms were spectacular and high standard. They were nice in person but felt slightly underwhelmed as I thought the first impression of the hotel would continue on but the rooms, but not so much. We still had a lovely stay, the staff were helpful and apart from the upgrades to the lifts meaning there was a bit of a wait/crowded lifts, there wasn’t much to complain about. I enjoyed my stay, just felt price was a bit steep. Again, this isn’t so much the hotels fault, but you could hear a lot of street noise throughout the night. So I assume the higher the floor the less you’ll hear? We were on the 9th tbf and got woken up every night. Not the hotels fault but worth factoring in for the location.

PolandNumber of elevators for lower floors is not sufficient (1 out of 2 was out of order) and no kettle in the room.
The location is great, rooms are big, and the hotel has its own cafe' to buy basic stuff. Also quite nice lobby and bar.

CanadaThe mattress wasn’t terribly comfortable, the air conditioning didn’t really seem to blow cold and the elevator….. you could sometimes wait 15-20 minutes for the single elevator that works here. They suggested using the service elevator in the electrical room which seemed pretty sketchy when paying for a premium hotel.

United StatesOnly one elevator was working. For. The. Entire.Hotel. Waits frequently exceeded twenty minutes. The elevator -- God bless it, it must have been exhausted -- was slow and kept stopping at random floors. In the end, in frustration, I used the stairs to and from my 14th floor room. Not a fan of that. No room service, despite the fact that you really emphasize your restaurant on the website. Limited hours for both restaurant and bar. No coffee maker in the room, and the front desk doesn't let food or coffee delivery up to the rooms, according to my delivery guy, who had to leave it in the lobby. Where I would have had to descend and then climb fourteen stories to consume it in peace and privacy. It shouldn't be so hard to get something as simple as a cup of coffee in your room, even if you have to outsource it to a delivery service. We are not savages here, people. When I did go to the bar, John from Dublin was exceptional and poured us a couple of fine drinks, with a side of good conversation. I would totally stay here again, with anticipatory joy, if I knew for sure you got these things ironed out.
